Hateful Comments
Editor, Times-Union:I am truly sad about the hateful comments concerning Wal-Mart's so called promotion of the "sodomite agenda." It is a letter full of judgment and intolerance. And the fact that it comes from someone who reads the Bible makes me feel even more sad.
First, I am sure that should anyone go to Meijer or most any store they will find movies about murder, violence, sex of all kinds, child abuse, and it goes on because that is what our society has become accepting of. If we are truly to boycott only stores who carry these kinds of movies, we would be boycotting all but the stores carrying only religious materials, and even then there would be someone who disapproves of something there.
I am saddened that people of homosexual orientation are still viewed in the way the writer of that letter has made them appear. And I have to wonder why it is that people take only certain parts of the Bible and use it to defend there own judgments and prejudices. The most basic advice in the bible is "love one another." I see no love in that letter. And what about "judge not." The Bible says we are ALL sinners and states we all fall short. There will always be something about all of us that someone will find wrong or sinful.
And it has only been recently in my life that I have had gay friends, who I have to say are some of the most loving and accepting people I have ever known and I thank God for them everyday. And to my gay friends I want to say thank you for loving me and accepting me, heterosexual sinner that I am. You have made my life full of joy.

Democrat Party
Editor, Times-Union:The Democrat Party is no longer the party of Franklin Roosevelt, John Kennedy or Joe Lieberman. With campaign finance "reform" it has been taken over by wealthy radicals on the anti-war Left. Your local Democrat politician may say that he supports "the war on terror," Israel or, perhaps, even the fight for "Democracy in Iraq," but the party's radicals control the money, the leadership and the agenda. If they win control of Congress they will impeach President Bush, leave Iraq to the terrorists and negotiate with fascist regimes of North Korea and Iran and terrorist groups like Hammas and Hezbollah. Why not Al-Qaeda? Do you think these people will be nice and peaceful? They are fanatics who are not going to be reasonable with Democrats or Republicans. They would destroy our democracy, our people and our civilization. They are just biding their time until they get nuclear weapons and the missiles to deliver them ... here. Your vote this November is a moral decision. But it is not a choice between "war and peace;" rather, it is between opposing these powers and dominations or yielding to them

Election Time
Editor, Times-Union:"Taliban Democrats," "Nazi Appeasers," "Islamic Fascists." Yes folks it's election time again. The fear the administration is trying to instill in American voters is rivaled only by the fear of Republicans of losing their strangle hold on Congress.
This type of inflammatory rhetoric insults a good many Americans plus over one billion of the world's citizens. Nearly everyday someone in the White House issues a new speech with the same tired message of fear in a frantic attempt to keep their grip on unchecked power.
Just in time for elections the President admitted to the secret CIA prisons and urged immediate congressional approval for his plans to deal with certain prisoners. The President assured the nation that no illegal torture tactics were used but declined to say what tactics were employed. Given this President's propensity to distort, evade and ignore the truth and the scandal at Abu Ghraib, I find this hard to believe. When asked about the secret prisons by NBC's Matt Lauer this so-called leader of the free world replied with a pugnacious, confrontational "So what." Certainly a more thoughtful, articulate answer was called for.
In a reply to Tim Russert's question about the Iraq War, the vice-president said "The American people don't have the stomach for the fight." What I don't have the stomach for is someone with five military deferments and others that have never seen a day of combat continually beating the drums of war.
The administration has build a meticulous house of cards attempting to link Iraq and the World Trade Center attack. Despite polls showing that some 40 percent of Americans still believe this lie, the house of cards is beginning to crumble. The invasion of Iraq was based on a pack of lies and preposterous assumption. Plain and simple.
This President has initiated an assault on the Constitution and Bill of Rights. He has screamed "executive privilege" at every hint of investigation. He has screamed "executive power" at every violation of the law. He has invaded a sovereign nation that was of no imminent threat to the United States, and plunged that nation into civil war while bankrupting this nation. In the future, before he goes blindly hurling around the fascist label he needs to look in the mirror.

Civil Liberties
Editor, Times-Union:Ref: UN-American Civil Liberties Union
President Bush is busy fighting Islam over seas. In the meantime an organization in the U.S. is busy gnawing at every respectable tradition our forefathers fought for. It is known as the ACLU. I call it UN-American Civil Liberties Union.
The following is taken from Christian Reviving America's Value. P.O. Box 96493, Washington, D.C. 20090:
What is the ACLU For?
Supports abortion on demand throughout pregnancy; supports pro-homosexual school curriculums; supports freedom to desecrate our flag; supports extended constitutional protection for enemy soldiers while bearing arms; supports free access to pornography, including Internet pornography access for children; supports partial-birth abortion; supports legalized drugs; supports legalized polygamy; supports legalized prostitution; supports censorship of the Ten Commandments and Bible; supports mandatory comprehensive sex education, including detailed promotion of homosexuality and condom use; supports nudist camps for teenagers; supports open homosexuality in the military; supports publicly funded profane art; supports same-sex marriages; supports legalized child pornography.
What is the ACLU Against?
Opposes "abstinence before marriage" sex education; opposes Christian home schooling; opposes education vouchers; opposes government ethics committees; opposed legalized school prayer; opposes our government post 9/11 security measures; opposes "God Bless America" banners schools; opposes pro-life demonstrations; opposes religious displays in public; opposes sobriety checkpoints and drug searches; opposes parental consent laws; opposes use of religious symbols for historical reasons; opposes medical safety reporting AIDS cases; opposes prison terms for most crimes.
Congressman Hostettler - who has led the charge to put a stop to the ACLU raiding of taxpayer coffer - is our point man in the House of Representatives to hold hearings to investigate, expose and stop the ACLU's anti-religion agenda.
Please do what you can to put that organization out of business for good.

Satan
Editor, Times-Union:In the New Testament it speaks of humanity's ongoing war with Satan and how the war will end! Good will defeat evil. Satan is defeated!
Satan and his followers will be cast down into The Lake of Fire (Hell) where they will suffer for all eternity.
Why do good people suffer? During hard times we face a choice to follow God or turn away from him! If we endure the suffering with our trust in the Lord we can frustrate Satan's efforts and glorify God!
It is Satan who is responsible for the world's chronic problems (war, famine, disease).
True love is from God!
It is kind. It is not rude. It is a survivor!
Will you come to Jesus Christ? Our Savior?
If not now, when?

Claypool
Editor, Times-Union:I have read the articles concerning the residents of Claypool not wanting their school-age children to have to cross the RR tracks to catch the schoolbus. I was raised in Claypool and went to school there from first through 12th grade. I walked to school from the south side of Claypool carrying a big saxophone case plus my school books for homework. Then I walked back from school going a different route in order to pick up our mail from the post office - once again walking over railroad tracks! What has happened in Claypool to make the people so frightened to have their children walk across a RR track - have they "dumbed up" since closing the Claypool School or are the parents not training their children how to cross a railroad track?
Just a thought!

Upward Basketball
Editor, Times-Union:For many years, Kosciusko Sport Outreach has provided Upward Basketball and Cheerleading for the youth of Kosciusko County. To say the least, this Christian ministry has positively touched the lives of many of our youth and adults. There is no doubt that the hundreds of volunteers who have helped in this program have built a stronger community for our citizens to enjoy. The Kosciusko Community YMCA applauds all who have supported Upward through their time, effort, and financial support.
The Upward Basketball and Cheerleading ministry can not be replaced by another program. Our hope is that Upward will revitalize and continue to grow this important ministry in the future.
Until the return of Upward, the Kosciusko Community YMCA will offer an expanded basketball and cheerleading program to fill some of our community's need. Additional information will be available in the near future.
Thank you Upward for your work to build strong kids, strong families and a stronger community!
