Altercation

Editor, Times-Union:
On Saturday the 5th of September, between the time of 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m., I was involved in an altercation at the Lake Village Shopping Center at the intersection by Hardees and K-mart. A red, newer body style, Mustang GT pulled up beside me. At which time the passenger of the Mustang threw his door open, hitting and denting mine. Then proceeded in hitting me in the face while I was still seated in the car. When I was able to open my door and exit my car, the individual ran to the Mustang and they drove off. If you witnessed this confrontation please call 372-9511 and ask for Officer Oberlin. I would sincerely appreciate any assistance what so ever in resolving this act of wrong doing and bringing the suspects to justice.

Jim Wells, Warsaw

Justice

Editor, Times-Union:
In response to J. Wesley Smith's letter on Aug. 17. It would seem to be so true about the wickedness of our legal system. I used to believe in our courts, in our states, in our government, in our country, but this faith is dwindling fast. If seems if you got money that's all that matters. If you got cash you can buy your way out of the troubles you get yourself into at least in this life. Let's look at the reckless homicide which occurred in June in which a driver killed three innocent children. THREE HOURS after the accident he was checked for alcohol content which was .099, assuming of course that was an accurate test. When he was released from jail he was given his license. Why? He also went to Florida. How could this be? I really don't know. Justice is suppose to be blind. It's supposed to not judge according to money, race, religion, color. There's a song from a rock group called "Poison" that says "Give me something to believe in." I ask those people responsible for this case to give us all something to believe in. Make the wrongs you've done right and let justice prevail.

Clinton Opinions

Editor, Times-Union:
To David D. Morgan Jr.:
I am truly sorry that any personal attacks have come upon your father for defending Clinton. He has a right to his opinion. But I have a right to mine, too. The next time you have the urge to defend Clinton, you may want to read the complete report that Ken Starr submitted to Congress. It is quite revealing, to say the least.

And could you please explain how the separation of church and state have any remote relevance to this issue?

Jessica Dilling, Warsaw

Commander In Chief

Editor, Times-Union:
There is one point that seems to be missing from the Clinton-Lewinsky matter. The President of the United States is our Commander in Chief, thus the highest military personnel. What has been happening for the last year or so? Military personnel have been tried, demoted and discharged for matters of sexual conduct. Either the President should be held to the same high standards, or all of those military personnel should be reinstated with back pay and public apologies.

We should not allow double standards and the lower ranking personnel to be held more accountable than the leader.

Susan Stevens, Pierceton

CCAC Funding

Editor, Times-Union:
In answer to the letter from Sibyl Nelson regarding the CCAC:

Why do you think everyone in the county should be forced to finance a facility many of us have no use for? I realize it is hard for some to believe, but there are thousands of taxpayers out here who are not in the least bit interested in sports or the CCAC.

Those who use the facility and those who benefit from it should be the ones paying.

Many of us have other hobbies and recreational interests and do not expect the county to support them.

Enjoy your facility but quit trying to push it and the financing of it on the entire county.

Most of us would like to see lowered taxes but it can't happen as long as people like you keep finding ways to spend other people's money.
