Freedoms
Editor, Times-Union:This is the first in what will be a series of letters dealing with basic human freedoms. I will begin with a human freedom that I have discussed previously - that of freedom of religion. And in order to conform to the Times-Union letter policy, I will have to divide this letter into several parts, the first of which will be a book list that readers of the Times-Union may find of interest.
The following books, most of which are available at the Warsaw Community Public Library, were used in developing a definition of freedom of religion.
1. Historic U.S. Court Cases: 1690-1990. An Encyclopedia.
2. The Oxford Companion to the Supreme Court of the United States.
3. Iran: A Country Study
4. Cuba: A Country Study
5. Soviet Union: A Country Study
6. China: A Country Study
7. The Korea's: A Global Studies Handbook
8. Turning Points In World History: The Crusades.
9. Turning Points In World History: The Reformation
10. Odd Gods: New Religions And The Cult Controversy
11. Western Civilization: Paleothic Man To The Emergence Of European Powers.
12. The Spanish Inquisition: A Historical Revision
13. The Story Of American Freedom
14. The First Liberty: Religion And The American Republic
15. The Lustre Of Our Country: The American Experience Of Religious Freedom
16. Uncivil Religion: Interreligious Hostility In America
17. Man's Religions: 6th Edition
18. History Of Punishment And Torture: A Journey Through The Darkside of Justice
19. The Rise And Fall Of The Third Reich: A History Of Nazi Germany

Shame
Editor, Times-Union:To J. Robert and Jodie Boggs:
Shame on you. To use a tragedy such as this - one that killed thousands and ruined the lives of many, many more - to further your religious propaganda is beyond reprehensible.
Instead of using this as validation of your religious beliefs, why don't you do as good Christians are supposed to do - help those in need?
A lot of those people were already at rock bottom in their lives. They lost everything. Most of them were innocent people, trying to make their way through life, and I'm sure a lot of them attended church and believed in the same God you do. And here you come along and say they were basically asking for it?
I think there's a nice little corner of hell reserved for both of you.
