Clinton Lies

Editor, Times-Union:
If I only read, listened and viewed the national media, I would come to believe that Bill Clinton has made a few public and private mistakes to blight his record as an astute government leader through the years. Fortunately, I learned long ago that many things read, heard and seen require more substantive investigation in arriving at the truth. Bill Clinton's reign has cost us all a lot of money because of his refusal to tell the truth up front, for he knows the truth would have kept him from the position of power he holds today.

Over 40 scandals have come to light since Mr. Clinton assumed the presidency. However, because of his power to influence and cover up the truth in the very agencies of government that are there to protect us all, we publicly will probably never know the truth. I personally believe there is substantive evidence to convict Mr. Clinton of any and/or all of the following crimes:

1. Treason
2. Accessory to murder
3. Illicit drug running
4. Personal illegal drug use

5. Fraud
6. Laundering of money for personal and political gain

I feel sorry for Mr. Clinton. He has lied so often all his life that he has long come to believe his lies as the truth. However, I feel even more sorry for the people of this country. If the polls are to be believed, we obviously have placed material well being well ahead of what is best for the future of this country. In so doing we are following the same pattern of mistakes made by all the great empires and are sewing the seeds of our own destruction.

Affairs Are Wrong

Editor, Times-Union:
I am getting tired of everybody thinking that it is OK to have an affair, as long as they are good people. It is wrong no matter what kind of person you are. How much more simple could God have put it? "Thou shalt not commit adultery." President Clinton talks about how we need to install values into our families. He obviously has no values or morals. I don't think that what he does behind closed doors is his own business. He is supposed to be our leader, so that puts him in the public eye. Now there are people writing to the editor who are trying to justify Clinton's affair just to make themselves look a little less guilty. Saying that it doesn't matter that he is having an affair, he could still be a good president. My response to these people: Look in the Bible, then look in the mirror, maybe then you will see that you yourself have no values or morals! All I can say about myself is that my son will not grow thinking that it is OK for daddy to have a girlfriend, or mommy to have a boyfriend as long as they are married.

Clinton Scandals

Editor, Times-Union:
Re: Letter from David M. Morgan, Sept. 1, 1998.

What the President did in the Oval Office, in the White House, is a public matter!

The White House is "the Peoples' House," the President and family reside there at taxpayers' sufferance! Any transgression he commits in the White House is public!

When Clinton took office in January 1993, the economy, courtesy of Bush and Reagan, was healthy! Clinton, as President, has really accomplished very little except provide us with one administration scandal after another.

The statement: "The military expects its personnel to be morally superior, then trains them to kill, etc." - rates right up at the top with many other stupid comments! Why didn't you add: "As Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, Clinton has proved he is not morally superior." He loathes the military but loves being saluted by and transported by the Air Force and Marine Corps.

Better sharpen your pencil and be prepared to defend Al Gore when he gets indicted for lying!

Wants Owen's Back

Editor, Times-Union:
Recently I have found myself wishing that I could write a "Dave Pacheco style letter" and cause things to go back to "what it used to be" at Owen's as it did at Wal-Mart. I know this wish is totally unrealistic and cannot happen but I certainly am missing what our Owen's grocery store used to be when it was locally owned.

Often it takes losing something to realize what you really had. Our Owen's store has always been an excellent store to shop in with wonderful customer service and cordiality from Larry McDonald, his department managers and all the other employees who work there. We're glad you're still there and we appreciate you.

It's been a strange and sad feeling lately to walk into a store that says "Owen's" and no longer be able to buy many of the familiar items we've always purchased there on well stocked shelves. The "Owen's" name no longer fits the store.
