U.S. Hated
Editor, Times-Union:I enjoyed reading the letter "Israel" from Buck Young and I agree with it. There has been unrest in that area for a long time and it will go on. There are more Muslims in the world than any other religion. We are aiding Israel in making more terrorists and bin Ladens.
I'm glad that Jim Townsend found a use for the Ann Coulter columns. I read the paper for news but she only puts people down and calls them names. I am amazed that she hasn't been sued. I like David Broder, he is a good columnist and tells things as they are.
After all the lives lost and money spent in Iraq, I don't feel any safer. I read that there will be no peace there unless it is divided into three separate states. A news reporter and author said Bush is the most hated president in his life time, I understand why.
I have been here quite a few years and I'm hoping to leave this world one of these days, but I'm not leaving the good world I came into. I have had a good life but I fear our grandchildren and great-grandchildren will not have that good life. I don't know who our next president will be, but I feel sorry for him. No matter how good he does, he can't undo the bad that has been done and erase all the hatred for the United States that is out there.

Editor, Times-Union:I don't think people in the Midwest know just how bad it is out west and this is largely because the news media is not reporting it. I lived 50 miles north of San Diego and the mestizos are indeed taking over. Below are a few items that come to mind, if I were to think about it I could easily double the list.
1. In our elementary school 60 percent of the students in the first grade speak Spanish only. Mexicans are slow learners so with the Bush program "No Child Left Behind," they teach to the slowest student. As one might expect we have massive declining enrollment of Anglos, who are sending their children to private schools. A new preschool is being built for the use of mestizo students only and we are paying the bill.
2. We have four supermarkets in town, two are mestizo only. Because mestizos are becoming the majority, the other markets are trying to carry more items that mestizos are interested in.
3. Mestizos found that if they went to our hospital emergency room they could get free medical care. This was very expensive so the state established a medical clinic for mestizos only. So if you are mestizo, you can go to the local clinic and get free medical, dental, etc. as well as free drugs.
4. The building trades are hurting. Low bids these days are by mestizo contractors who employ illegal workers and pay low wages. New homes are being built by electricians, carpenters, and plumbers, etc., who are all here illegally. If an Anglo wants work he has to take less money.
5. Mestizo families are going together to buy homes. Local homes may contain two to four families. Greedy real estate companies join the fray.
6. In the city of Maywood, Calif., near Los Angeles, 96 percent are mestizos and of those it is estimated that 70 percent are illegal. All the public officials are mestizo, some are illegal. They just renamed the local school after a mestizo president.
7. Illegal mestizos receive food stamps and rent assistance, etc. Some older mestizos come only to qualify for Social Security benefits and then return to Mexico.
Some of you may not be used to the word mestizo. It derives from the name of a multi-colored wool on the mestizo sheep in Mexico. Do not refer to those invading the heartland as Hispanics. Ninety-nine percent are not. Hispanic is primarily applied correctly as light-skinned Euro types of Spanish origins. In fact, most coming now are not even mestizos. They are Indians who speak Spanish poorly.

Editor's Note: The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary defines mestizo as "a person of mixed blood; specifically: a person of mixed European and American Indian ancestry" and Hispanic as "of, relating to, or being a person of Latin American descent living in the United States; especially: one of Cuban, Mexican, or Puerto Rican origin."

Editor, Times-Union:If shredding Ann Coulter's columns and using them for fertilizer helps gardens grow - just imagine what shredding the rantings of Howard Dean, the viscousness of Michael Moore and the barely understandable garbage from George Soros could do! Not a mole left - not a Japanese beetle - no more rose root-rot!
The old Democratic party of Roosevelt, Truman and Kennedy (not Ted!) is being corrupted by Pelosi, Reid, Waxman, Conyers, Water and Jackson.
President Kennedy said, "Ask not what your country ...." Howard Dean, Pelosi and Reid say, "Don't ask for anything. We'll tell you what you need - just give us your money."
What the Democratic party needs, and desperately so, are people like former Sen. John Breaux, (La.), Sen. Sam Nunn (Ga.), Lee Hamilton and Tim Roemer and Joe Kernan (Ind.).
The Republican party has, under this administration, committed some classic blunders, but the integrity of the White House is still intact. We have had no other attacks on our nation. The economy is growing, unemployment is down.
I read some articles recently where some citizens claimed to be ashamed to be American because of the war in Iraq, because they hated President Bush, etc.! That's really sad to contemplate!
As a retired 1st Sgt. of Marines, a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam, I have never been prouder to be a citizen of the United States of America!
Final note: I have voted in every general election since 1952. Many of them absentee ballot. But I have never, ever voted a straight-party ticket! I vote for the issue and the individual.

Editor, Times-Union:Re: In response to "Pierceton delays" in the Aug. 16 edition.
Maybe that's the reason this community, and many across America, don't get anything done and prevent the real problems in society. Because we waste our time worrying about trivial, meaningless things.
We have the laws on the books concerning everything discussed in the article. Why waste time with what the police are supposed to be enforcing? Can they do their jobs? Or are they incompetent?
If there is a problem with off-road vehicles, or kids on mo-peds, let's get the officers fired and replaced with officers that will enforce the laws.
Wake up, Indiana communities!
