Purse Returned

Editor, Times-Union:
Yesterday, Aug. 21, I did a really dumb thing - I have done some other dumb stuff, but not too recently! I did a huge shopping at Wal-Mart, took my cart load and put it in the trunk of my car and drove home. I pulled in the garage, reached for my purse - not there! Oops! I left it in the parking lot at the shopping center - not good! I headed back to town, with my frozen food melting in the trunk, imagining the worst, but hoping for the best! My first fear was that I had flattened my bag as I drove away. My second, of course, was that I would never see it or any of the contents again. Well, neither of these things happened.

Some wonderful anonymous person turned in my purse and everything in it, and I claimed it from the courteous staff at the customer service department in the store. Thank you, thank you! I am so grateful for your kindness. It is folks like you, who do the honorable thing, that help make this community a better place.

YMCA Says Thanks

Editor, Times-Union:
I would like to personally thank all the members of the Kosciusko Community YMCA for your patience and understanding during the past week during our shutdown. This was necessary to make the improvements and renovations that were needed. We will re-open on Monday at 5 a.m.; unfortunately, the large pool will not be open yet, please call ahead during the week to check on its availability. Some of the improvements that took place in the last week were: a new floor in the fitness center, a rebuilt sauna with a new floor, both pools have been cleaned and sealed, all carpets have been cleaned, many rooms have been repainted, the gym floor has been re-sealed, all parking lot lights have been replaced and many other cosmetic improvements have been made. I would also like to thank all the staff, volunteers and contractors that worked very hard to make this all happen. Again, thank you for your patience and I look forward to seeing you at the YMCA very soon.

School Board

Editor, Times-Union:
The local school board obviously needs to attend a class in economics. Only in Warsaw would a government unit spend $30 million plus interest to save $300,000 per year. If they are in such dire straits in their budget, why is $1.75 million being spent on a new administration building? Surely the administrative people can rough it like most of us taxpayers and not have a plush office.
