John Hancock didn't sign it ... but you can. The National Constitution Center in Philadelphia invites you to be part of a national celebration during Constitution Week from Sept. 17-23. Sign a replica of the U.S. Constitution and show your support for our nation's most treasured document. You'll also get a free pocket Constitution and an "I signed the Constitution" button. Join me Monday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., at the new Warsaw Community Public Library, 310 E. Main St., downtown Warsaw, to make your mark in history.

See you there.

Memorial
Editor, Times-Union:I am really surprised the Times-Union hasn't been out at the intersection of Winona Avenue and Zimmer Road and taken a picture of the beautiful monument in memory of the three children that died in June.
I think Gary Nieter should print a picture in the paper for everyone to see. It's really a beautiful memorial.
It was really kind of Turner Industries to allow the monument to be placed in their yard.
Thank God I live in a community with such compassionate people.

Helpful Police
Editor, Times-Union:While on a recent visit to Warsaw, we experienced a vehicle problem on a Sunday evening.
We asked the Warsaw Police Department for help and officer Doug Brumfield Jr. came to our aid and soon had us on our way.
We sure appreciated his help, friendliness and professionalism. Your city is indeed fortunate to have a great police department with willing officers to help in time of need!

Wal-Mart Hours
Editor, Times-Union:Well, I guess my job here is done. It's not easy saving a town from not being able to shop at Wal-Mart after 10 p.m. I'm tired now and I need my rest.
I can't go on for the rest of my life being the "Wal-Mart Guy." Sure it was fun for a while, but every good thing must come to an end.
It's not like I can ask them to stay open for 36 or 48 hours, because in case one hasn't noticed, they already are.
(Math Lesson: 24, 36 or 48 are all successive multiples of 12 ... I guess there are two Pacheco's that know a thing or two about math.)
Wal-Mart, you have re-opened for 24 hours, for that you are to be commended and shopped at even more. However, better than that, you have listened to your customers. That is what makes a good business a great one.
You townsfolk may be sitting in your favorite chair or on the davenport saying to yourself, "Wow, that boy has no life does he?" I would agree with you ... IF these three letters were totally serious.
The purpose was to make just one person laugh. I hope that person was you. If not, I'm taking suggestions for another letter-to-the-editor campaign, so I can try even harder. Anybody heard of any stores that have cut back on their hours?
