Break-In

Editor, Times-Union:
This is in regard to a break-in at my mother's house at Hoffman Lake. Last Thursday afternoon, my mother's house was broken into. Taken were a gas grill, a smoker, an air compressor, a few lawnmowers and a curio cabinet. The man was driving a dark blue pickup with a trailer hitched on back.

The neighbors got a good description of him. This is a message to the homeowners at Hoffman Lake. If you see someone driving a dark blue pickup, or if you notice someone who doesn't live out there and has been hanging around, call the police or sheriff.

Now this is my message to the pathetic person who ripped my 70-year-old mother off. You are scum and a bottom-feeder and that will be your only aspiration in life.

I know what you really wanted to steal. Did you think we would have left the gun collection out there? By all means come to the auction and buy them like normal people. But then you can't be considered too smart. I mean, anyone who stages a break-in with the neighbors watching in broad daylight, can't be too bright a bulb, if you know what I'm saying.

You searched the whole house and basement looking for those guns. Didn't find them, did you?

Cornfield

Editor, Times-Union:
"Once a new superintendent is hired, the superintendent will have to look at that issue." This statement was made in reference to the stunning revelation that "cornfields in the area are disappearing, being replaced by housing developments."

I'm pretty sure if you asked my 8-year-old daughter where all the "cornfields" have gone over the last several years, she would reply, "They're being turned into neighborhoods." Unbelievable. If this is an unexpected situation just now being considered by the school board, we're in more trouble than I thought.

Was that not taken into consideration when schools were closed? By my estimation, we're going to have to double the size of Eisenhower alone. Are no agencies talking to each other? Every other week you can read in the Times-Union about "cornfields" being rezoned! Simply unbelievable.

Stolen Tools

Editor, Times-Union:
To the person who stole the tools from the van at Our Father's House. You must be too lazy to work for a living so you steal from people who do. I am sure if caught committing one of your crimes - and you will one day - you will blame society or your parents for your behavior but that is bogus for you. Have a mind of your own and the decisions you make are your own. One can only hope that when you are caught and finish serving your time that you act like a real man and earn a living like everyone else and when and if that happens you will earn the respect and forgiveness of all those you have harmed during your crime spree.

I wish you no ill will but if you suffer a few sleepless nights over what you have done I certainly will have no sympathy for you. So in closing remember what I said. The decisions you make are your own and give up the blame game.

Purple Heart

Editor, Times-Union:
The Military Order of the Purple Heart has a program/presentation - "A History of the Purple Heart" - designed to educate the public. The program, approximately 20 minutes in length, is ideal for service organizations, veterans groups or any groups of individuals interested in learning about this unique, oldest military decoration in the world.

Anyone interested may call me at 574-453-3559.
