For The Dogs
Editor, Times-Union:I would like to respond to Joe Shepherd's letter on his dog being killed. I am sorry for the dog as I am a dog lover and have always had a dog. Joe, do you remember several years ago when you killed our little dog Trixie? You never apologized or even had the decency to tell us where she was and what happened. A neighbor saw you pick her up and told us. She was our baby, our friend and a member of our family for 14 years. She was old but in good health and we dearly loved her. You were town marshal in Claypool then. When we let her out, she would go to our neighbor's house to be loved and petted, then come back home. You, Joe, saw she was out of our yard and picked her up as a stray, even though several big dogs were running loose, you chose to pick up a little terrier, less than 5 pounds, brought her to Warsaw to the dog pound, but you never got her inside because she jumped out of your arms and was hit by a car and killed. It still brings tears to my eyes to imagine how frightened she must have been. Joe Shepherd, you were responsible for our dog being killed. She was our best friend, our baby and a member of my family. And even though we have another dog, we still miss her. What goes around comes around.
