Shopping Carts
Editor, Times-Union:For some reason shoppers can't walk a few extra steps to put their shopping carts in the cart corrals provided in the parking lot and just leave them anyplace. How lazy and inconsiderate can people be?
The police have a slogan, "Click it or ticket."
Video stores have a slogan, "Be kind - rewind."
So, how about a slogan for shoppers, "Be smart - bring in a cart."

Editor, Times-Union:Recently, the Kosciusko Board of Zoning Appeals heard a request for a variance on Lake Wawasee to change three zoned residential lots to multiple family dwellings zoning. The developers want to build more condos on Lake Wawasee. Currently, there are two new condo projects being built on other areas of the lake.
The danger of the BZA allowing this change should be obvious to all. If the BZA changes these zoned residential lots to condo lots, developers will do what they do everywhere else, especially in Florida. They will come in and offer three or four homeowners that own adjacent property money for their homes and, with the BZA's help, build more condos. Then there is no end in sight.
The BZA has over the years made some very questionable decisions around this county without any checks and balances from the tax-paying citizens. It is time to stand up and be counted. The rehearing will be on July 8 at 8:30 a.m. in the Kosciusko County Justice Building (just across the street west of the courthouse). Please try to attend and bring friends and neighbors to show the BZA that they can no longer make decisions without considering the citizens of this wonderful county. If they allow this one, God help all of us. It is time to stand up for your rights!

Editor, Times-Union:In the past few weeks, I have attended two of the town meetings involving the Warsaw elementary school building plan and also attended my second school board meeting. It just amazes me how five of the seven Warsaw school board members can approve a plan to spend $30 million without asking any questions. And I see a lot of questions unanswered. How did Jefferson instantly become the population hub of the Warsaw School System? Did the board members forget that Harrison, Leesburg and Madison schools are having problems with large enrollments? When there is the possibility of major property tax problems this fall, how can a school system go on a spending spree? How can one person come up with this great "master plan" and then change it two or three times in less than 30 days? Are all of our school programs handled in such a chaotic fashion? I've got more questions that are unanswered, but the paper limits the length of a person's letter. Anyway, hand me a pen - I think I see a well-deserved remonstrance coming.

Red Cross Thanks
Editor, Times-Union:I am pleased to take this opportunity, on behalf of our Kosciusko County Chapter of The American Red Cross, to announce that the National Red Cross Blood Service's "Save a Life Tour" will visit Warsaw on Tuesday, July 8, at our Center Lake Pavilion blood donor site.
The Blood Service's "Save a Life Tour" is crossing America to promote the importance and need for blood donations! Several mobile units have been outfitted with demonstrations and interactive information presentations in order to educate people of all ages about the history and current technology utilized in the Red Cross Biomedical Blood Services Program.
Residents of Kosciusko County are encouraged to visit Center Lake Park on July 8, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., and to visit the "Save a Life Tour" mobile units. We hope that our residents will do two things:
1. Come, visit, and make a blood donation--The Gift of Life!
2. Bring a bag of nonperishable food items for our food pantry supporting our "Military Family Assistance Support" project!
In conclusion, we are very grateful for the support our Red Cross Chapter receives in so many ways from the citizens of Kosciusko County. However, the need for blood continues daily and there is no substitute for blood and the many products manufactured from the whole blood (plasma, platelets, red cells, etc.). Likewise, the need to continue support for our military families remains as our local members of the Armed Forces carry out their mission around the world! They deserve our support, and every donation helps!
In the event you would like to schedule an appointment to donate blood or obtain further information, please call 800-GIVE LIFE (800-488-3543). Additional information on the "Save a Life Tour" and Military Assistance Support Project can be obtained by contacting our Kosciusko County Chapter at 267-5244.
Thank you, everyone, for supporting our Red Cross in Kosciusko County!
