- Softball Clinic - Stamp Out Hunger - No-Brainer

Softball Clinic

Editor, Times-Union:
On June 3, Warsaw Girls Softball League sponsored a softball clinic. The morning session consisted of batting and fielding. The afternoon session was for pitching. We couldn't have had a better day, excellent weather and a great location.

At this time I would like to thank Stephen Liebsch, Brook Carey and the Grace College player who put this clinic on. They did an excellent job. They had the opportunity to work one-on-one with each girl. They explained every little detail thoroughly so, no matter what age participated, everyone understood.

I would also like to thank all of the Warsaw girls softball coaches who took the time to pass out the information on the clinic, and who also took the time to get the message out that the morning session times had changed. You're my only link to all the participants of the Warsaw Girls Softball League. And to the parents who made sure their daughters were there.

I would especially like to thank the CCAC for donating the field for that day. Thank you everyone for making this a great day.

Stamp Out Hunger

Editor, Times-Union:
On behalf of the National Association of Letter Carriers, Our Father's House, Combined Community Services and The Salvation Army, the Warsaw office of the United States Postal Service would like to thank all those in the Warsaw area who contributed to the 2000 Stamp Out Hunger food drive held on May 13, 2000. Thanks to your donations we collected over 14,000 pounds (7 tons) of food items for those in need. These items were distributed equally between Our Father's House, Combined Community Services and The Salvation Army.

Again, the staff of the Warsaw Post Office would like to thank all who participated in this year's campaign and look forward to an even better Stamp Out Hunger drive in 2001.

No-Brainer

Editor, Times-Union:
According to Al Gore, who is telling the nation and the world that we have an overwhelming, gigantic surplus of money. Duh, because we have all paid in too much in taxes. I think they, the government, should give it back to the taxpayers, so we can all afford to buy this high-priced gasoline, that they, the government, won't do anything about. Sounds like a no brainer to me, duh. Have a Nice Day.

Understanding Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) And Using Them
Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) are for people over the age of 70.5 years old. Unlike other distributions, which are taxed at ordinary income tax rates, Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) allow for a tax-free distribution from an IRA, provided that the distribution goes directly to a qualified charity.
