Beanie Babies
Editor, Times-Union:It was with great amusement that I read the "Between the Lines" column by Ruth Ann Lipka. You see, I sell Beanie Babies.
At first, Beanie Babies were a nice plush item with a reasonable selling price. Then it hit! We placed orders every two or three days, all to no avail. They simply couldn't ship out as quickly as the orders poured in.
Then it started. (We are well known for our exceptional customer service and also our soft hearts.) "Could you call me when they come in?" began the plaintive cry. "Of course," we'd say. Alas, we now have a book with literally thousands of names and telephone numbers. "Oh, thank you," gushes the typical working mom. "I'd have never gotten any if I would have had to wait in line."
Beanie Babies have gone from being a nice item to sell, to being a full-time responsibility. We constantly monitor shipments, update our calling list, watch the Internet, swap stories with other collectors and answer phone calls.
Holding orders and calling people is a lot more work than piling them on the shelf, but that is what we would do for our friends, and our customers are our friends.

Expulsion
Editor, Times-Union:My son was recently expelled from Warsaw Community High School for fighting on school property. Now the school board wants to keep him out of school for the remainder of this year and the following school year as well. I fail to see the reason behind this decision. What is it the school board sees that is so wrong with my son? My son does not do drugs, deal drugs, or belong to any street gang. But these are the kind of students that are allowed to continue their education while my son has his education unjustly taken away. It used to be important to the school board to have your children attend school all the time to ensure them of getting a proper education. Now it seems like they don't even care anymore. I was always under the distinct impression that all our children had the right to obtain an education ] not just the gangs and drug dealers.

Gold Wing Riders
Editor, Times-Union:GWRRA Chapter F of Warsaw would like to thank all of those persons and organizations of Warsaw and the surrounding areas that helped make the Spring Wing Warm Up, held at the Kosciusko County Fairgrounds, a success. The Light Parade, held Saturday night, was especially well run due to the efforts of the Warsaw Police, Winona Lake Police, Warsaw Fire Department and KEMRAD. WRSW provided excellent music for the parade. This was the smoothest run parade we remember. Again, thank you to these organizations. As for the rally in general, the people at the fairgrounds did an outstanding job in satisfying our requests. All the businesses and individuals that donated coupons, goods or whatever are indeed to be commended. There are so many people to thank. It makes a chapter such as ourselves proud to have a gathering in our community. Again, to all, a big thank-you.

Criminals
Editor, Times-Union:It was a terrible shock last evening to read that a convict sentenced to 10 years is out in a mere eight months. What has happened to our judicial system? Who is the person or persons responsible for this ridiculous decision? They should be removed from their positions immediately because they are not serving the best interests of the public. To the Rev. John Reid ] You have put an undercover officer's life in serious jeopardy. Don't think that there isn't a good possibility that there will be an attempt on this man's life. Ask Charles Leiter where they "ran into" each other. I'm willing to bet that it was in a bar or some drug hangout. Your belief that he is converted to Christianity is sadly misplaced. If a man dies because of what you have done, you will have to live with it for the rest of your life. Now tonight I read that still another felon, sentenced to 30 years, is turned loose in a mere eight months. No wonder the average cop is fed up. He works long and hard to gather evidence, making sure he has crossed all "T's" and dotted all "I's" so that his case won't get thrown out of court, only to have some moron turn them loose in a few short months. If things aren't changed rapidly we might just as well go back to the days of vigilantes and gunslingers. At least justice was fast and sure in those times. Harsh? Yes, it was harsh, but criminals have to start paying the price for their behavior now.
I would like to suggest to Mr. Kolbe that he get his priorities straightened out and make time to notify every person involved in any of these cases that the jerk is back on the street, laughing his head off, that he has made a mockery of the law.

More KKK
Editor, Times-Union:In answer to Mr. McQueen's letter of May 28, concerning the Klan ] be careful what you ask for, you may get it. I also get very angry whenever I read or see anything concerning the KKK.
We don't need to limit free speech to stop these people. If they want to parade their ignorance for all to see, why stop them? These people are full of hate and have to blame someone else for all their problems whether it be Jews of blacks. Anyone who parades around in white robes and stupid pointy hats is just making a fool of themselves. Maybe we should have just laughed them out of town, after all, they do look ridiculous. What we don't want to do is give up any more of our freedom. Our federal government is infringing upon and taking them away one by one as it is.
Racial prejudice is nothing short of ignorance. We white folks don't belong in this country anymore than anyone else. After all, we stole this great land from the Indians. We also brought the blacks here, stole them too.
You say they want slavery returned. We are all slaves ] we are slaves to a federal government who continues to oppress us and tax us to the limit and beyond. We are all being persecuted for our denial of God and our evil ways.
We don't stop gays from parading, so why then should we stop a few weirdos dressed up like it was Halloween.
