PTO Says Thanks
Editor, Times-Union:The Warsaw Community High School Parent Teacher Organization expresses its gratitude for the assistance provided by 455 volunteers. Over 75 volunteers worked two hours or more in Warsaw Community High School, working in such areas as the media center, vocational office and guidance office. Several guest speakers volunteered time in the health and business departments, while other volunteers provided valuable time tutoring students.
Over 250 volunteers spent time distributing and delivering snacks and chaperoning events. The most recent event was the BLITZ program, in which volunteers and students went out into the community assisting area businesses and public service organizations with cleanup and repairs. We also would like to thank the volunteers and students who helped with the decoration, donations and cleanup for the 2001 Program and After Prom. We had over 30 parents and faculty members help chaperone this event.
We continue to have great involvement from parents, teachers and area businesses throughout our community. This shows great support for our young people's education, exhibits care for the students and provides a foundation for their well-being in the future.

Rumors
Editor, Times-Union:I was a babysitter watching two kids for a woman who worked third shift. I found it was easier for me to move in and watch them instead of coming over every night and watch them. She worked third shift until 6 in the morning, then lay down to sleep. I made sure that I watched the kids get off to school. I helped her straighten the house up and kept it clean. I have known this lady for about two years. Soon we found ourselves loving and falling in love. We have a Christian family background. We treat all children as Jesus would want us to, actually we treat all people as the Lord would want us to. We treat everyone with love and respect, so the friends of the woman's sons came to the house. We gave them our basic rules of God, which are respect others, love one another and honesty - the basic Ten Commandments. But in the eyes of others, we've done wrong. Hence, ungodly rumors have started about me because of my Christian upbringing. Because of my upbringing, I learned to treat others as you would want to be treated. I have shown everyone this. The children come over and are very respectful to me, so I have shown them respect out of God's love. The parents of these children, who have taken the time out of their lives to get to know me, have approved of their children visiting our home. But those who have not taken the time to know me, the office personnel and many others, have caused viscious rumors to begin because of my kindness to God's children. This has caused this lady to be evicted in two weeks and me to leave in two days. Where will this family of two children and the mother go in two weeks? Where can I go in two days? This has caused great pain and turmoil to our family. Is this what happens to God's children who show love, kindness and respect to others?
The owner does not want "that man" as he had said to the mother, in the trailer park. He also has said, "You should find someone else to watch your children," rather rudely. This mother has informed me that she would not let me watch the kids if I were not such a devout Christian.
Am I being punished for being God's servant? For living for the Lord? We have nowhere to go so far, but we are going to leave. If we have to live in our vehicles we will do so just to leave this place. We want to live for God and we will do so no matter what the cost. In the end I know living for God is and will always be right.
This is written according to the Bible, "We stand true to the Lord whether others honor us or despise us, whether they criticize us or commend us. We are honest, they call us liars." (2 Corinthians 6:8)

Chess Tournament
Editor, Times-Union:We would like to send a public thank-you to the Warsaw Community Foundation for Public Education Inc. for sponsoring the first Warsaw Community Schools Chess Tournament April 28. We could not have done this without their support. We had 63 students participating in grades K-8 from nine different Warsaw Community Schools. The trophies, ribbons and medallions awarded were all provided by the Foundation. The students arrived at 8:30 a.m. and played five rounds of chess, lasting 45 minutes each. It was a very impressive sight to see all these students quietly playing chess in the Edgewood Middle School gym. Our thanks also go to the Harrison PTO for providing concessions and the Edgewood Middle School administration and custodial staff for hosting this great educational event. We appreciated the great follow-up coverage provided by the Times-Union staff and writers. This is something we hope will become an annual event.

Stolen Dog
Editor, Times-Union:I am writing in because somebody took our English bulldog on Saturday, May 19, from our fenced-in back yard. He was only two months old. We have a daughter who is 2-1/2 years old and this was her dog and she has been upset over this because she does not understand where he has went. Whoever has done this is a very cruel person. I just can't believe that you cannot even let your dog out into your own yard without somebody coming by and taking him. If anybody knows where this dog is please return him to his home. If you know anything about it you can call 269-6919, Warsaw Police Department or come to 1410 E. Clark St. We are offering a cash reward to whoever brings him back or who helps us get him back. If the person who took him just brings him back and puts him back in the fence there will be no questions asked. All we want is our family dog back.

Thanks To Fire Department
Editor, Times-Union:Debbie and I wish to express our sincere thanks to the Warsaw Fire Department for saving our home on Tuesday evening.
Our home was struck by lightening that started a fire in our attic. The firemen quickly controlled the fire and kept damage to a minimum. The extra effort taken by the firefighters and fire inspector Mike Wilson to help us through this crisis is greatly appreciated. We are very fortunate to have these professional firefighters protecting our lives and property.
We also thank the considerate people at Farm Bureau Insurance and a special thanks to our friends and neighbors that provided us with assistance in our time of need.
