Editor, Times-Union:I wanted to comment on letters I have read from Mr. David Clark.
In December 2003, I was in the process of finding a house to purchase. I was looking in the towns of Pierceton and Etna Green. I asked a lot of questions in both towns. Laura Baker was extremely friendly and helpful in answering them for me. The information Laura Baker gave me was a big deciding factor in purchasing my home there. I have since met Barry Baker on several occasions and he also has been there anytime I have needed him.
Does Mr. David Clark have a personal bone to pick with the people voted into office in Etna Green? The salaries he listed in his letter are in no way out of line and I have never had to search for Laura or Barry! I know that all my dealings with all the people here in our little town have been great and I am very glad I chose the town of Etna Green a place to call home!
I am totally blown away by Mr. David Clark's statement telling Laura Baker to move anything to another town! It sounds to me (retired U.S. Air Force) David Clark thinks he is the town of Etna Green! I would think a renter in our town with as much to say as you do and with all the integrity you have would have at least bought Indiana plates for your vehicle by now - you drive on Florida plates and have been here for much more than the 60 days. I would have thought with all that integrity you could at least follow the laws of our state - or does this mean you are actually a resident in the state of Florida?

Editor, Times-Union:In times like these, a Christian is an optimist. Crisis come. Man challenges, hurts, and kills man. Nations strive for stronger defense against nations and seek superior offensive capabilities to convince and dare rogue nations to seek and obey the real Creator and Sustainer of the universe, our Father in Heaven.
A Christian holds fast to the Bible promise: "We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28 TNIV)
A Christian seeks to share this confidence to all around him so they also are possessed by this promise from God. There is just no other substitute!
Most of our homes have a Bible, somewhere. Too often it is a book "owned" in a bookshelf. In a Christian home it is "possessed," prized and read daily by family members who have and are seeking truth from God. They seek to live according to his will in the pressures, temptations and confusing messages from the culture.
This book, the Holy Bible, has come to us through the ages. It has survived attacks of many kinds. Neither burnings of it, nor vandalism, nor civilized profiteering by scholars in books or movies has touched it. Even when authors and filmmakers and directors admit that what they are offering is fiction, many readers of the books and attendees of the movies become unsettled mainly because they are ignorant of the Holy Scriptures. It is sadly disturbing that the distortion and fantasy of book authors and movie producers have this effect on some who call themselves Christian.
A Christian, assured of his relationship to God by faith and knowledge of the Bible scriptures remains steady, confident and optimistic amidst the natural and man-made chaos that comes in life.
I pray that describes you, dear reader. I find it so!

Editor, Times-Union:I am now incarcerated at Miami Correctional Facility for possession of over 3 grams of Methamphetimine. I was a dealer as well as a user and was set up by a confidential informant on May 24 of last year.
First of all I would like to thank the Kosciusko County Court System and the Honorable Judge Rex Reed for giving me the opportunity to get the help I need for my addiction to Meth. I would also like to apologize to the community for my behavior in the past.
Now that I have been clean and sober for almost one year I can take an honest look at the terrible lifestyle I had come to know. I am not only doing something for myself but also for the people around me whom I love. I am now willing to conform my behavior to the expectations of society and strive to become a productive member of my community. I want to be a positive influence and help other people with their own addiction as well as the younger generation before they actually have to walk down the same path I did.
I have already done the hardest part in admitting I have a problem. I am currently enrolled in a Therapeutic Community Program called Clean Lifestyle Is Freedom Forerver (CLIFF). It has really opened my eyes to the complex brain disease that took over my life. I have learned alot of ways to deal with different situations. I have learned to notice irrational thoughts and thinking errors by way of rational self counseling. It helps me manage my thoughts and feelings in a responsible and healthy way. I've learned to be more aware of my surroundings and through positive self talk my feelings and behavior have lead to better outcomes. Drugs are not the answer to anything - they only make matters worst. I would like to give special thanks to my children, the two most important reasons of my staying clean and sober.

Editor, Times-Union:I have one simple question for all those who think that the government is acting illegally by monitoring phone calls to overseas terrorist groups: what is your problem? The government has been doing this for years. Are you just now figuring that out? You should go to your local library and check out Big Brother in George Orwell's "1984".
Almost everything in that book is happening today's society. We are all numbered, they don't need our names anymore and everything we do is by our numbers. Eventually we won't need paper money because we all are numbered. We can be tracked no matter where we are. For example, OnStar knows where a vehicle is and can even unlock our doors and talk to you. Cars can email you now. If you make a call on your cell phone the phone company can track you down to the nearest tower. Cameras are watching us at all times whether we are in a building, on the street or in our car running a stop light. Now people can take pictures with their phones and steal your identity. Then, thanks to the Internet, people can find out where you live, your address and any other information about you whether you authorize it or not. Live satellites can zoom down now and take a look into your backyard. Doesn't this scare anyone? It scares me.
People use the the Internet everyday to do their banking, pay their bills and do their shopping. You have just opened your front door and invited the world right on in. All of your personal information is just sitting out there for any hacker or government agency to get. But no one complains about that. Instead, they are upset that the government is monitoring calls that are going overseas to known terrorist countries and groups. If you are not doing anything wrong then what are you so worried about?
Sept. 11 was a total waste of human lives and I personally do not want to see it happen again. I'd rather be safe than sorry. In short, we have no privacy anymore and we are all open books for everyone to read. There are more important things to be worried about right now, like getting our soldiers home safely, controlling the influx of illegal immigrants into this country, fuel problems, and the education of our children. Let's focus on the important issues and getting them solved. Big Brother has been and will continue to watch all of us.
