Proud Of FFA
Editor, Times-Union:Last evening, May 6, my wife and I attended the Annual Spring Banquet of the Warsaw Chapter of the Future Farmers of America. The student officers and members coordinated the entire evening's program. Awards were presented in recognition of service and participation. A guest speaker spoke on the subject of leadership. A slide show illustrated the activities and events of the prior year. New officers were inducted via a formal ceremony. It was a great evening! As a member of the Warsaw Community School Board, I am very proud of the outstanding students who are involved in FFA. It is obvious that FFA is helpful in building character, instilling values and developing leadership in our community's young people. Our compliments to retiring president, Jared Haughee, his successor, Hayley Wertenberger, and to all the officers, members and advisers of the Warsaw FFA!

Pierceton May Day
Editor, Times-Union:We want to take this opportunity to thank the Pierceton Elementary School third-graders for making May Day so special to older and shut-in citizens of Pierceton. It was a pleasure to see their smiling faces as they delivered plants to the doors of many in our community. Their teachers are to be commended for inspiring them to spread kindness and cheer.

Day Of Prayer
Editor, Times-Union:It was unfortunate that we were not able to have a service at Center Lake Pavilion on May 1st for the National Day Of Prayer. For those who came to the Pavilion on May 1st expecting a service, please accept our apology.
Due to miscommunication, plans were not coordinated in time for this event. There were congregations who held a time of prayer, and we know that many prayed that day for our president, government and troops.
The National Day Of Prayer is an important observance; however, we encourage everyone to pray for our country each day. The absence of a service should not change praying for those who are in authority, as the Bible teaches.
In order to ensure that there is an observance next year, the Ministerial Association has assigned Ken Locke as the chairman. Please mark Thursday, May 6, 2004, 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. on your calendar for this event. Anyone who would like to help is welcome to call Ken at 267-5361 or e-mail at [email protected]
New Life Christian Church also will be open that day from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. for persons to come and pray in the chapel for our nation.
The Ministerial Association is committed to bringing the faith community together to pray, worship as well as serve our neighbor in the name of Jesus Christ. The concern shown that the service was not held spurs us now to establish plans for next year!

Drug Bust Complaint
Editor, Times-Union:In response to the letter in Monday's paper. Why would anyone complain because there was a drug bust in their neighborhood? How can a drug bust be unfair? I do not believe the intent of the Drug Task Force was to embarrass the people in Hide-Away-Hills, I believe the intent was to protect them from the drug dealers. Why complain? The residents of Hide-Away-Hills should give a big THANK YOU to those who are out there trying to rid this area of drugs. Would you have preferred that the Drug Task Force not follow up on their lead? Be greatful, that for now, at least, the drug dealers that were caught and their illegal drugs are off of the streets.
