Editor, Times-Union:

I would like to take this time to clear up a misconception as well as elaborate on a few things concerning the TVSC and TVMS. First of all, as I said, my son was being a disruption in school. But I also said that his biggest problem is that he is a follower, not a leader, and until the problem is addressed as a whole by all parents and teachers and administrators working as a team, then it is hard for some of us who care to help. It's time we let these kids know that we are going to take control and take our school back.

When I shadowed my son on Friday at school I didn't know what to expect. What I saw was totally disgusting. I saw absolutely no respect for the teachers or other students.

As I see it, there has to be some way to make these kids accountable. Back a few years ago there used to be a place for kids who didn't see fit to follow the rules. It is called White's Institute. Wait ] I said "used to be a place," but then said it is called White's Institute that must be it is still open and could be used.

To all the parents who were at the March board meeting complaining about how their children were being treated. I have a couple of questions for you. Could it possibly be that you were upset because you went through an expulsion hearing with your child that morning and you portrayed your child as a victim? Would you be willing to publicly air the facts so that myself and a few others who support the faculty at the Middle School could see if maybe our judgment of them is wrong? I'm not saying this to be fact, just trying to sort things out loud. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Another thing I would like to ask. Would you be willing to stand in a public place and be talked down to worse than a dog knowing you will have your life ruined by exercising your most basic human rights to freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?

I'm not a historian, but isn't this part of the Constitution? Could this be the same Constitution that is being quoted to give these kids their civil rights to do whatever they want? How would you like going to work every day knowing you are between kids controlling the school, their parents, and the school administrators and your reward for the day is a "f--- you" from some kid who is telling his parents that you are treating him like a prisoner? Or told to mind your own f------ business! How would you like to be talked to like this and have to take it? It would seem only logical to me that this constitutes verbal abuse.

My question to the school board (Mark Wise excluded because he seems to be on the right track) ] I noticed an air about you the other night that maybe you were hoping this would go away ] is this a true statement? Are you so incapable of standing up for what's right that you would make the teachers feel threatened if they try to inform the parents of what's going on? A question for Dr. Boling as I said at the board meeting the other night, I have heard rumors of a case being documented against an administrator. Is it possible you know who this person is and that is why you seem to be against being evaluated by the people who work under you? What is your opinion on basketball players getting caught at a party where alcohol is being served? Would it matter if the residence belonged to a school administrator? Let's say for argument's sake, the school superintendent such as yourself?

I fail to understand the policy of zero tolerance for drugs in the school system. It would seem to me that if you are an athlete selected to represent the school, then this is a full time commitment. Alcohol is a drug and if you're caught using, you would be off the team (zero tolerance). As it appears to me, there are a few administrators that could take lessons off of Brett Boggs. In my opinion, he is a very fine administrator. I would certainly encourage you to call your school board representative and let them know how you feel about how they are representing you.

Catholics

Editor, Times-Union:

I must admit, I have not read the Catholic Bible completely through. When sharing my faith with a Catholic, however, I ask to use his/her Bible. It does indeed contain the plan of salvation, along with many other ideas, which is the very same as my King James Bible.

John 3:5,7 "Ye must be born again." Since man is dead in trespasses of sin, he needs to be born again. Not physically, but since he is dead in spirit, he needs to be born again, spiritually.

The Bible says, (and the Catholic Bible as well), that "if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation" (Romans 10:9,10).

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13).

Nowhere in scripture does it say Mary was to be worshiped. Luke 1:28 "... blessed (favored) art thou among women!" Being highly favored does not mean she was exalted above he who was conceived in her by the Holy Ghost.

Luke 1:31-33. These verses say nothing about Mary being exalted above the blessing of being the chosen vessel. But they do declare the status of the child; he would be the Son of God, and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

No one is denying the place of Mary as an instrument of God's blessing. But she is not the Savior ] Jesus, Immanuel, God with us!

Field Trips

Editor, Times-Union:

With the celebration this month of the "Month of the Youth," I could not end this celebration without acknowledging the great help I have received as a teacher from businesses and professionals around the area. By allowing our classes to come in and browse around during field trips, each one has enhanced our units of studies. Without their participation, these children would have had to imagine what goes on behind the scenes rather than have a hands-on experience.

Please continue to allow children to come in and experience your expertise. I, as well as many other teachers, are very appreciative of your generosity.

KABS

Editor, Times-Union:

Many people in the Warsaw-Winona Lake area do not know the advantage we have with public transportation. Many towns of equal or even larger size do not have the privilege of this asset of our town.

I urge all of you without your own transportation to try the KABS bus. If you need to go to work, to the doctor or even shopping just for fun, call KABS at 267-4990 and let their efficient drivers take you to your destination while you relax and have no worry of traffic or any other driving problem.

Our local government should be willing to help with public transportation. It's good transportation for any of us from the first-graders to those in wheelchairs.

Let's all get busy and help support KABS.
