Barking Dogs

Editor, Times-Union:
Looking back into last year, I recall a meeting in Nov. 98. The meeting was at the courthouse, County Commissioners. This was to address the hundreds of complaints within the County on this dog barking issue. People came from all over the county to make their complaints heard. These inconsiderate dog owners won't take responsibility for these so called pets. This was all brought up at this meeting, the constant dog barking and yapping. I may also add that there was a substantial amount of people at this meeting also. Avis Gunter said, "they would be looking into this, with an answer before warm weather." Well Mrs. Gunter, we are all still waiting. I would like to ask this board where they are looking for the answer to this at? Are you looking in your little snack room, where all the coffee and donuts are consumed? Or maybe it is coming over on the slow boat to China. Or maybe we will all get the shaft like the people at Chapman Lake. At this same meeting, you told a person you would be down to look at his situation on this dog yapping. Gee: a no show, I know, you must have got lost. So much for truth on your part. I had a neighbor call me yesterday, complaining about a new situation on road 750 North, on the north side of Tippy Lake. Seems there is next to a dog kennel in the area, with constant barking at all hours of the day and night. So, what do you suggest Mrs. Gunter? All the people start calling you at 2:00 in the morning, or should we call our fantastic, friendly sheriff's department. You know the one. Mr. X sheriff thinks is being beat up on so bad for not doing their jobs. Or maybe we should call the owner, and get him up at all hours and get a no attitude to the result. Soooo Mrs. Gunter are we going to see any answer with this, or will it be lost in the donut room forever?

The first things that I remember after moving to the state of Indiana are the mosquitoes/the lakes/and the breaded cheeseburgers, from the lunchroom at the high school.

Yes, breaded cheeseburgers, and they were soooo good.

The other day I visited a well-established business here in Warsaw. I ordered a meal and as a joke a breaded cheeseburger, and I was asked what I wanted on it, so I thought that the joke was on me until I got me breaded cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and mayo. I'm here to tell you that sandwich was a blast from the past. It was great, and I would like to thank Lee and the gang from Penguin Point on the west side for giving me my "Blast From My Past." They are still as good as they were a few years ago, but too many to mention.

Animal Welfare

Editor, Times-Union:
The Animal Welfare League Rescue & Adoption Center currently has over 100 dogs and puppies and over 185 cats and kittens that are available for adoption. All these animals receive love and attention daily from our co-directors Lisa Barber and Tracy Yates, our employees, and our volunteers -Êand those animals return that love. The dogs are walked almost daily, but the majority of their time is spent in cages. The cats spend their entire time in cages, and when you walk past their cages, they reach out to be petted and loved. Many animals have already been spayed or neutered. Some of the cats have been declawed. If you know you would be a responsible pet owner and want a pet, please visit the Rescue & Adoption Center. Any one of our animals would make an excellent pet. You would not be disappointed. The address is 3489 E. CR100S, (behind Quality Farm and Fleet). Be sure to visit our website: www.awl-warsaw.org. If you would like to become a member of AWL, please call me at 834-4786, and I'll send you a membership application. The AWL Rescue & Adoption Center needs volunteers, especially on Saturdays and Sundays, to walk dogs (you'll burn lots of calories!), play with puppies and kittens, pet and love the cats, clean cages, feed the animals, or do laundry. There is always something to do! Just call the AWL Rescue & Adoption Center at 267-3008 or stop by.
