Home Health Care
Editor, Times-Union:I write to praise an excellent health service organization in our community - Home Health Care and Hospice. In January I broke my leg and was confined to my home. Home Health Care came to me and made life far easier and more pleasant for me. The nurses, therapists and home health aides were all very kind, caring and efficient. My thanks to all those very special people. It's good to know that our county has such a resource available.

Huskies Say Thanks
Editor, Times-Union:The Harrison Huskies would like to send a huge THANK YOU to the entire community!
The fund-raiser for one of our students who has been battling a serious illness, Victoria Montel, was a great success. You helped us raise over $10,000. The family has already been able to put these funds to good use. Teena, at Think Young Styling Salon, did what the experts told her could not be done. She turned Mrs. McClintock's hair a glorious shade of purple. Luke Becknell from Today's Headlines Styling Salon did a fantastic job of shaving Mr. Mehlberg's head and making it shiny in front of the whole student body while being filmed by WNDU and the Times-Union. The whole faculty and staff dressed in various themes to celebrate the success of this fund-raiser and show their support for Victoria and her battle to regain strength and health. Victoria wasn't able to be there, but she sure had a lot of laughs over all the pictures that were taken at the event. We appreciated the great media coverage to help make the community aware of this need. WRSW helped us out with radio announcements and a collection barrel. The American Legion had their own fund-raiser which brought in over $1,000 and they graciously added it to ours! Safeway Door Co. donated $1,000. We had parents who did the same! Students and parents alike were so generous with all the donations that were sent by check and in plastic bags. We commend you all. This is a wonderful community to live in. This was all about the kindness and generosity you were so willing to share with one of your own. We want to update you also. Victoria is going to be coming back to school soon. She continues to improve. Your prayers and expressions of concern have meant so much! Thank you again.

Music Man
Editor, Times-Union:I wanted to take the time to publicly thank the cast, crew and directors of the Wawasee High School presentation of "The Music Man," my hat's off to one and all. My family and I had a very enjoyable evening this past Friday thanks to the hard work and dedication of each and every member of the production. Your success was measured by the numerous rounds of applause and laughter throughout the evening. Kudos to the directors, your ability to integrate members of all ages who were able to put on such a magnificent production is an achievement in and of itself. Again, thank you for a marvelous performance we thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

Waste Task Force
Editor, Times-Union:A very special thank you to the "Curbside Waste Task Force" for their dedicated effort to bring curbside recycling to the city of Warsaw. Dr. Joe Thallemer, Michael Harstine, Luke Becknell, Julie Rankin, Mike Dewald, Dick Boggs, Teresa Smith, Sue Studebaker and Lacy Francis Jr. have established a very "user friendly" recycling program. Now comes the important part - let's use it! Please, everyone take advantage of this opportunity to recycle. It is a very small effort with such a great reward. Encourage your friends and neighbors to use the recycling carts. Let's make this the most successful recycling program and who knows, it might expand to include the entire county!

Fly The Flag
Editor, Times-Union:I think it's time to again print a full page copy of the American flag. Everyone: buy an extra paper or two and hang this flag up everywhere ... at home and at work.

Editor's Note: A full-page flag with the motto "We Support Our Troops" was published in the March 20 edition. It was the back page of a special "Confronting Iraq" section.
American's Creed
Editor, Times-Union:I believe there are many Americans who have never read or even known of "The American's Creed." I also hope I am wrong for believing that. The American's Creed was written in 1917 by William Tyler Page and accepted by the House of Representatives on behalf of the American people on April 3, 1918. It reads as follows:
The American's Creed:
"I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union, one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.
"I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it, to support its Constitution, to obey its laws, to respect its flag and to defend it against all enemies."
God bless America.

Young Republicans
Editor, Times-Union:The Young Republicans of Kosciusko County are helping coordinate a volunteer effort Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. at the the Warsaw Police Garage to prepare recycling bins for the city of Warsaw's new curb recycling program. The city was thrifty in finding quality used bins from another city. However, in order to be ready for use, the bins need some prep work. Specifically, we'll need help applying new identification stickers and lid treatments. So that we can best organize the volunteer effort, those interested in helping are asked to call me ahead of time to let me know when you're available to serve. There are 5,000 bins. We need your help! Please call 267-4764 if you can help. If there is no answer, leave a message with your phone number. Thanks!

Teacher Praised
Editor, Times-Union:My name is Ross Parker and I am a freshman at Indiana University in Bloomington. I am writing this to praise the work of a Spanish teacher at Warsaw Community High School, Troy Rudd. Mr. Rudd will be let go at the end of the school year. Mr. Rudd was my teacher during my sophomore year. Not only is he a great teacher, he is a great person who cares greatly about all of his students and even those who he does not teach. I cannot count the number of times he was there to help students before and after school. He made learning very enjoyable. It is too bad that the high school is letting such a great man go. WCHS is losing a great teacher. I know that I am not the only person who has been touched by him. Thanks for everything, Mr. Rudd.
