Election Signs

Editor, Times-Union:
I wanted to share my thoughts and opinions with regards to the upcoming elections.

There are numerous campaign signs posted on state highway property at Parker and U.S. 30. Now, I can understand that people running for auditor or controller might not know that it's illegal to post signs on state highway property, but a member of law enforcement should know better. I hope someone else plans on running against Whitaker since he feels he is above the law by posting his signs all over state highway property.

There's another one of his signs at CR 250E and U.S. 30. The one he had at Center Street and U.S. 30 has been taken down. If you see other signs posted on state highway property, just call 574-267-8571.

Corneal Tissue

Editor, Times-Union:
March has been labeled Eye Bank Month in an effort to call attention to the need for corneal tissue with which to replenish our eye banks. It is possible for you and me to give sight to another, but only if we tell our families of our desire.

Physicians are reluctant to remove corneal tissue and other organs without permission of next of kin.

Partial-Birth Abortion

Editor, Times-Union:
The fight for life: Partial-birth abortion must remain illegal in this country. A recent ruling by a federal district court in Nebraska has declared the federal ban on partial-birth abortion unconstitutional. The Supreme Court of the United States has agreed to hear the case, which will decide the matter and set a strong precedence. The outcome of this historic pro-life battle is essential to future court rulings throughout the country regarding the barbaric practice of killing a baby.

Read the trial transcripts of how a doctor described the technique used to murder the baby. Terms such as salad tongs (but thicker and heavier), skull crushed, brains sucked are tossed about nonchalantly. Remember when this "procedure" is done, the baby is completely outside the mother with the exception of the head, which remains inside the cervix. A report on prenatal pain states that babies nearing birth have an increased sense and reaction to pain, especially intense or sudden pain.

This same doctor testified that the physical reaction to pain was obvious. The United States, a country that claims to be educated, moral, and "religious", whether it be Judeo-Christian, Muslim, Hindi or some other, is the only country in the world where this senseless, barbaric act is legal. What was it again in the Declaration of Independence? The pursuit of what? Life? What a sham!

For more information, visit www.aclj.org Go to the Web site, sign the petition. Let all your friends know. These babies cannot fight for themselves. Please let's bear the cross for them! Do not be a stand-on-the-sideline Christian.

Ted Carter

Editor, Times-Union:
In response to the letter from Ted Carter: You think that pollution, global warming, depending on foreign oil, meth addiction, child abuse and neglect, etc. is more important than the murder of unborn babies. Excuse me, but that is also child abuse and neglect. What is done to those babies is atrocious and painful. They suffer being severely burned if saline injection is used. In partial-birth abortion, the doctor (if you can call them that) punches a hole in the base of the baby's skull and suction out their brain and then their little bodies are hacked up into pieces for whatever body parts or tissue that can be harvested with the remainder thrown away as so much trash.

As a man you were created in the image of God and for the purpose of loving him who first loved you.

Shame on you for being so cold and insensitive to human life created by God. How can you you say that, as a man, you personally have absolutely no stand on this issue whatsoever and that, as a man, you could only have a somewhat diminished opinion, if any?

How can that be when your mother chose life and therefore you live? Think about it. Think about the alternative. Now do you still have no opinion?

Be a man. Honor thy mother. Take a stand.

Local Attorney

Editor, Times-Union:
In last Thursday's paper, I see where one of our attorneys in Warsaw had a charge for driving with an invalid license dropped. How does that work? Was his license valid or was it not? If not, why or how was the charge dropped? Was the charge for whatever reason he was stopped for in the first place also dropped? What kind of judicial system do we have in this county?

Free Speech

Editor, Times-Union:
This is in response to Ron Lightle's "Disrespectful."

First, it was not the whole Valley student section that was disrespectful to the "National Anthem." There are a lot of us who also disapproved of it.

This is something that has happened all season, and our principal never said anything to that "group" of kids before this. Also, this has nothing to do with the outcome of the game.

Even though I don't agree with what was said, I am proud that I live in a country that allows it to be said.

I'm proud of our team and their accomplishments this season.
