Ed Com Project
Editor, Times-Union:I'm Jarrod from Mrs. Ringle's third-grade class. We are doing an Ed Com project. Ed Com Expo is an annual celebration where all the kids that go to Warsaw Community Schools come to show what they have learned. We are trying to get Guidant to move here to Warsaw. Guidant is a company that makes stents for people's veins. Guidant was sold to Johnson & Johnson in December. Guidant might move to New Jersey. We don't want that to happen. We want Guidant to move here in Warsaw. Because we are the orthopedic capital of the world. We have companies like Othy, DePuy, Zimmer, Biomet, Medtronic and Instrumed. We have companies like Guidant. But we make artificial hips and knees. Guidant makes stents for people's veins. I invite you to Ed Com Expo on March 26. Tell us what you think of our ideas. Please reply to Mrs. Ringle's third-grade class, 1300 Husky Trail, Warsaw, IN 46582, 574-269-7533.

Editor, Times-Union:My turn, Matt. Just curious. Is it your job, your lifestyle or your mouth that keeps you jumping from town to town?

Hunting Preserve
Editor, Times-Union:I am finding myself needing to write this letter to cleanse myself of issues reported in your paper involving hunting preserves. To start with, it is irrelevant whether Mr. McIntosh is a "good person." For the paper to continue its biased editorilization of the issues involved regarding hunting preserves is improper.
Having said the above, let me clarify the basic problem. Everyone on both sides of the controversy agree they would not want to live next to a preserve. Even Mr. McIntosh has stated his wife would not want to live next to his preserve. The reason this has been allowed to happen is Mr. McIntosh has taken advantage of loopholes, while we have distanced ourselves. After all, what are the chances this could happen to one of us? Well it is happening to families right now who for generations have lived and serviced the community far more than Mr. McIntosh.
The recent zoning hearing, which was to settle the zoning problem, only perpetuated it. The outcome was to "wait and see" what State Legislature decides in regard to preserves. State Legislature is initiating rules for regulating and controling preserves. They are not deciding issues regarding zoning. It is typical governmental bureaucracy to wait and see, thus ignore the problem. The problem is evidently ours, not theirs.
We as a community, county and state must all get involved. By turning our heads, we are allowing others to take advantage of us. If this problem is not addressed soon many of us may find ourselves living next to preserves. Preserves which may someday allow the hunting of exotic animals such as elk, moose, zebras and boars. We need to stand together and voice our opposition to hunting preserves by notifying local, county and state government representatives.

School Board Election
Editor, Times-Union:Next Tuesday, Feb. 8, there will be a special election for the District 4 School Board Representative of the Warsaw School Corporation. This is being held to compensate for a ballot error during the regular November General Election.
Only those registered voters in Warsaw Ward #2, Precinct 1 will be allowed to vote. You will vote at the same location as the November General Election (Warsaw Fairgrounds, Home and Family Building).
We hope that all who are eligible to vote will get to the poll on Tuesday. Even if you did not vote in November, as long as you are now registered, you are eligible to vote next Tuesday.
If you need a ride to the poll, one can be provided by calling 267-4828 between now and including Election Day.

The Committee to Elect Sterling Watkins
