Editor, Times-Union:This letter is for the folks who travel Highway 13 north and south through the town of North Webster. As you all probably know, at each end of the school is one flashing caution light with signs saying "20 miles per hour when children present." Now the thing is this: Do you realize that to exceed this speed limit, you are endangering the welfare of these children at the crosswalk? You're also endangering me, who for years has watched the traffic grow from a few vehicles to a great many, especially semis, and fast cars and pickups. Now let me ask you this: Do you have enough insurance to cover us if you would happen to not be able to stop quick enough? Please take a few minutes to stop and think about this. Wave to me as you go by; I'll be there, the old fellow with the orange suit and the red and white sign.

Editor, Times-Union:In response to the opinion of Denise Beno in the Dec. 30 issue of the Times-Union, I would like to comment regarding her ideas.
The source of truth is the Holy Bible, where we read "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of God will stand forever" (Isaiah 40:8). The Word who became flesh in Jesus Christ is not only the Word of truth, grace and life, he is also the Word of permanence. Jesus said, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away" (Mathew 24:35). This is the confidence with which we can enter the New Year here on earth. "Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices; my body also dwells secure. ... Thou dost show me the path of life: in thy presence there is fulfillment of joy; in thy right hand are pleasures for evermore" (Psalm 16:9,11).
A personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ allows us to experience joy and fulfillment in this life and eternal life with our creator as an added bonus.
Have a happy and prosperous New Year, and may God's blessings be upon us all.
