Thanks To Firemen
Editor, Times-Union:We would like to say thank you to all the firemen that helped on Dec. 14 at the Stephens home. Your prompt service and care as not to destroy any more than the fire had already damaged was greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just Compensation
Editor, Times-Union:Concerning Sen. Kent Adams' proposal to make a new law grant-ing authority to confiscate the vehicles of drunk drivers is unconstitutional, unless just compensation is made for said vehicle. Read the Fifth Amendment in our Bill of Rights. I wrote to Sen. Adams on this issue and he sent me a copy of this proposed legislation. I urge you to obtain a copy of this proposal and read it for yourself. There are all kinds of things added in there that have nothing to do with drunk driving offenses and are all unconstitutional, just the same as the majority of all proposed bills that our legislators vote into law without ever taking the time to read through.
To make this a constitutional law all the additives in this proposed bill will have to be eliminated and just compensation will have to be made for any vehicles seized. In other words, the individual or spouse will have to be given something of equal value or be paid for the vehicle seized. Also, any financial institution holding a lien against said vehicle will have to be paid off.
It is the job of "we the people" to keep our elected officials operating within the restrictions of the Constitution. Therefore I urge you to read this proposal in its entirety and act accordingly.
And for your further information, our own dearly beloved prosecutor, Mr. David Kolbe, started the ball rolling for this unconstitutional proposal.
