Postal Thanks
Editor, Times-Union:We wish to thank the local merchants for their discounts on merchandise and food items for our two "adopted families" we sponsored for Christmas and beyond. A special thanks goes to Owen's Supermarket for giving extra generously, making it possible to really stock the cupboards for our two families.
Thanks again,
Donald K. Wiesehan, Steward

Dorothy Plummer, Representative

Bogeyman
Editor, Times-Union:I really don't appreciate being at work and coming home to find out the "bogeyman" was in my house, two times in one day, searching for a runaway girl-friend of my daughter's, which I don't really even know. There was no probable cause for her being at my house. She never has before. Both times my kids felt intimidated to invite the bogeymen to search the house.
Besides I'm investigating my own legal project, with papers open in my room, and female personal items lying about. Why? Why in the world would bogeymen go through all of this?
And I don't think a police officer is trained to act with a firearm, before his trained communication. Even if he apologized afterwards for using his firearm. With this and plenty of other incidents is why I use the term "bogeyman" in recalling a police officer.
When our police officers get better, which I hope they do, the bogeyman will go away. Yes, police used to be better and safer.

Carrier Thanks
Editor, Times-Union:Thanks to all of the nice people who sent Christmas cards and gifts to your Times-Union carrier. I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you. They were greatly appreciated. May God richly bless you and may 1998 be your best year ever.

Editor, Times-Union:While driving to South Bend on Dec. 23 to spend the holiday with my family, my car stalled at a traffic light in Warsaw. Immediately two personable young men in cars behind me pushed my car and me out of heavy traffic onto a side street. The one young man had a car phone and called my Amoco Motor Club. Then we learned there is no authorized club service station within 30 miles.
A concerned motorist told us Pinky's (Union 76) has towing service, so the man aiding me left to notify them of my plight.
Another car stopped - a lovely lady said they had seen my car's hazard lights so had come back to see about me. Yes, they knew of Pinky's and would check to be sure help would be coming.
Soon the tow truck came and trouble was located - a broken alternator belt. At the station repairs were made and I was on my way to a safe arrival at my destination.
While at the station, I learned that indeed both parties had reported my need.
On the way, I reflected over and over how many people had cared about this graying lady with the dead car and thanked God for them to put my needs ahead of their own on that busy day.
Though I did thank these people, I wanted to publicly tell what a great place I think of Warsaw as being.
May God bless you all and may the New Year bring you fulfillment and peace.

Editor, Times-Union:Combined Community Services board of directors and staff want to publicly thank everyone who has been involved in giving of their time and resources to the less fortunate of Kosciusko County during this holiday season. Through our Adopt-A-Family program, 79 families received food and gifts, 325 children received toys through our free toy giveaway, and we were able to submit 118 children's names for the Elks Christmas party. Kosciusko County residents are a very giving people and we would be terribly remiss if we did not thank you for your participation in helping others, not only during the holiday season but all year long. Thank you!
