Letha F. Hamman, 87, of 3762 W. Old 30, Warsaw, died at 10:45 p.m. Feb. 11, 2009, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.

She was born Feb. 23, 1921, in Seward, to Roy O. and Nellie Igo Walters. On Dec. 13, 1941, in Mishawaka, she married Richard Hamman, who died June 21, 1995.

She lived most of her life in Kosciusko County and retired from the Warsaw Parks Department. She was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Warsaw; past worthy matron of Order of the Eastern Star; past president and chaplain of American Legion Auxiliary; and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars; Ladies Moose; White Shrine, Elkhart; and Crystal Lake Home Economics Club, where she was named homemaker of the year in 2001.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda L. Secrist, San Lorenzo, Calif.; a son, Richard (and spouse Lois) Hamman, South Bend; a sister, Helen Greer, Plymouth; a brother, Kenneth (and spouse Erma) Walters, Akron; five grandchildren: Sara (and spouse Maurice) Battles, Bethany (and spouse Evan) Holmgren and Jacob (and spouse Furris) Hamman, all of South Bend; Robin Secrist, San Lorenzo; and Matthew (and spouse Melissa) Secrist, Castro Valley, Calif.; and six great-grandchildren: Preston and Dustin Battles; Bevan and Ean Holmgren; Miles Secrist; and Christine Hamman. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Newsom, who died in 1995.

Services will be at noon Friday at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Warsaw, with Father Daniel Martins officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
