I feel like someone needs to stand up for the Plumlees. I have known them for almost 10 years. The Plumlees are the kind of parents every child should have. Loving, caring and devoted, both to each other and their children. They work long hours to be able to provide for their children. They want what's best for them. They will do what they can to make sure their children are happy. Is that wrong?

They have been accused of some mighty awful things. Threatening Doug Ogle? I don't think so. Perky is a father looking out for his children's best interests. He can be very direct, but not threatening. He chooses his words carefully. That's just the way he is. He doesn't speak out of anger, or frustration. I can tell you he's had plenty to be angry and frustrated about. But that's just not his way.

Their boys love the game of basketball. They wanted to play basketball, and they played every chance they got. When it became apparent that they weren't going to be allowed to play much for Warsaw, they looked at going to school somewhere else. The two oldest boys went to a prep school (the third Plumlee boy soon followed), where they have excelled both at basketball and academically. They are getting a top-notch education and they are getting to play the sport they love. They have both signed up with a great college where they will continue to play basketball.

So what do the Plumlees have to complain about? Not a thing. And you won't hear them complain. They are doing what it takes to make their sons happy and successful in life. They just want to be left alone. Let them live their lives without all this drama. They didn't ask for this, and they don't deserve it. Be happy for them, and help them cheer their sons on.

As for Doug Ogle, whatever his fate is in this town, it has nothing to do with the Plumlees. They have had no contact with him for more than two years. Anything he's done is on his own head. If he has a guilty conscience, then that is of his own doing, too.

And to the basketball fans in the area: The Plumlee boys are gone. Nothing will bring them back. The boys couldn't possibly have done as well as they have had they stayed here in Warsaw. Don't keep bringing them into every situation you're unhappy about. Be happy for them, and please just let it go.
