He was born April 19, 1941, in Charlotte, N.C., to Dean Revolt and Eunice Virginia Pressley Avery. He married Janice Pifer, in South Bend, who survives.
He retired from R.R. Donnelley & Sons, Warsaw, and owned LDA Consulting. He was a 1959 Bourbon High School graduate and proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. He was a member of AA and served as chairman of the CSO for four years. He also was the Santa Claus of the Fellowship House, South Bend, of which he was a member. He was a loving father and really enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He liked boating, fishing, listening to country music and working in the yard. He enjoyed spending time in the Yahoo Diabetic chat room with many special friends who offered him much support during difficult times.
Also surviving are five daughters: Donna (and spouse Todd) Metz and Julie (and spouse Jim) Ballinger, all of South Bend; Deb (and spouse Clarence) McAfoose, Warsaw; Kathy (and spouse Tom) Wilder, Ocala, Fla.; and Jill (and spouse Jason) Smith, Arizona; two sons, David (and spouse Cathy) Avery, Sturgis, Mich., and Derrick (and spouse Patricia) Avery, North Manchester; 37 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Jackie Ochstein, Susan Gilley and Betty Avery; and two brothers, Joe Avery and James Archambeault. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Clyde Avery.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at Mishler-Eastlund Funeral Home, Milford, with pastors James Archambeault and Samuel Ochstein officiating.
Calling is from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
