NORTH MANCHESTER - Leslie "Kelly" Edward McKinley, 77, North Manchester, formerly of Portland, died March 27, 2008, at Indiana University Hospital, Indianapolis.

He was born Sept. 22, 1930, in Union City, Ohio, to Leslie and Geraldine Bennett Erwin. On Aug. 12, 1950, he married Beverly June Keister, who died Nov. 13, 1992.

He worked for Ohio Valley Gas, Portland, from 1951-63, and CTS in Berne for 30 years, retiring in 1993. He graduated from East Side High School, Union City, in 1948. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1947-52. He was a former volunteer firefighter for the Portland Fire Dept. from 1958-78. He was a member of Portland Moose Lodge, North Manchester American Legion and former member of Elks Lodge of Portland.

Survivors include a son, Michael (and spouse Lucy) McKinley, North Manchester; a daughter, Deborah (and spouse David) McCrory, Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Marvin Erwin, Hillgrove, Ohio; two sisters, Anna Lee (and spouse Ivan) Ridenour, Springfield, Ohio, and Maxine (and spouse Robert) Temple, Union City; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor Erin Huiras officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
