MENTONE – Leslie G. “Tuffy” Grubbs, 85, of 346 19th Road,  Bourbon, died at 7:50 p.m. May 25, 2013, in Mason Health & Rehab, Warsaw.
He was born June 23, 1927, in Mentone. On Sept. 25, 1945, in Mentone, he married Doris L. Flenar, who survives.
He formerly worked at Manwaring, Mentone and later at Zimmer Orthopedics, Warsaw, for 17 years, retiring in 1990. He attended Mentone High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II. He attended Riverview Community Church, Tippecanoe. He loved fishing, camping, the Chicago Cubs and his dog Buddy.
Surviving are two daughters – Beverly (and spouse Terry) Lewis, Rochester, and Denise (and spouse Marty) Heckaman, Etna Green; his daughter-in-Law, Tammy Grubbs, Bremen; 10 grandchildren: Jay and Leewanna Lewis; Amy Noel; Bob Cooper; Missy and Jeff Smith;  Justin, Emily and Landon Grubbs; Alyssa and Adam Siefer; Jason, Cortnie, Adam, Amanda, Rusty and Michele Heckaman; and Holly and Isaac Sellers; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Tim Grubbs; four sisters, Fern, Bernice, Fawn and Dollie; and five brothers, Harvey, George, Harry, Jesse and Max.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone, with Pastor Rod Ruberg officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon.
Calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
