He was born May 20, 1925, in Logansport, to Leonard Sylvester and Helen Crowe Wendt Sturm. On Aug. 20, 1949, he married Genevieve “Jenny” Zurbuch, who survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He was a resident of Kosciusko County since 1962, where he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw. He was co-owner of Executive Office Machines, Warsaw; was a salesman; and was sales manager at Allen Business Machines, Fort Wayne, retiring in 1994. He was the past Grand Knight of Council 4511, a Boy Scout Leader, past secretary of Travelers Protective Association and a member of Warsaw American Legion Post 49.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife: Jenny Wendt: four sons: Clifford L. (and spouse Nancy) Wendt, Encinitas, Calif.; Paul S. (and spouse Clair) Wendt, Phoenix, Ariz.; Thomas R. (and spouse Gabriela) Wendt, Cypress, Calif.; and Daniel M. (and spouse Jill) Wendt, Maricopa, Ariz.; ;eight grandchildren; two-step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a grandson.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 125 N. Harrison St., Warsaw, with Father Phil DeVolder officiating. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, with military honors.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial may be made to go toward the fight against Lou Gehrig’s Disease, mail donations to the ALS Association, Development Department, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 250, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301; or that a mass offering be made. Mass cards will be made available during visitation and at the church.
