NORTH WEBSTER – Leo D. Parkhurst, 73, of Pierceton, died at 1:45 a.m. July 7, 2012, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse.

He was born Sept. 14, 1938, in East Gary, to Olin and Maude Elizabeth Ginter Parkhurst.

He attended East Gary Edison High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He retired from Bethlehem Steel, Burns Harbor; formerly worked for the U.S. Postal Service; and formerly owned and operated the Clark Gas Station, La Porte. He lived in the North Webster/Pierceton area for the past 20 years and was a member of American Legion Post 434, Kingsford Heights.

Surviving are three daughters: Judy Anderson, Amery, Wis.; Michelle Trujillo, Pierceton; and Pamela (and spouse Santos) Nunez, Joliet, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy (and spouse Patrick) McGrain, Valparaiso, and Janet (and spouse  Robert) Koester, Leitchfield, Ky.; and a brother, Terry (and spouse Laurie) Parkhurst, Brandon, Fla. He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, North Webster, with Pastor Dennis Judy officiating.

Calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
