He was born April 8, 1949, in Woodstock, Ill., to Leo D. and Margaret Kerber.
He was a longtime resident of Warsaw.
He graduated Warsaw High School in 1967. He attended St. Joseph College, Rensselaer, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1971. He returned to Warsaw after college and retired from Ranger Materials, where he worked for over 20 years as a bookkeeper.
He was a member of The Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw, where he became a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus.
He was an exceptional son, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him. Throughout his life, he craved knowledge and was rarely seen without a book or newspaper in his hand. His compassion, sweet nature, sense of humor and laughter are deeply missed by his remaining family.
Surviving are: two nieces, Kathleen Marie McCoy and Christine Lee Milliken, both of Indianapolis; Paul and Jean Kerber, Colfax, Ill.; Lynn Kerber, Leesburg; two brothers-in-law, Tom Maher, Kokomo, and Darwin Call, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo D. Kerber; his mother, Margaret Tassie; his sister, Barbara Ann Maher; and his uncle Robert Kerber.
Services and Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Oswego Cemetery, Leesburg, with Father Phil DeVolder officiating.
McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
