He was born April 3, 1949, in Jackson, Ohio, to Charles and Mary Carpenter Denney. On Aug. 19, 2006, he married Shirley A. Joplin Floyd, who survives.
He was a security guard at the Miami County Correctional Facility. He enjoyed watching football.
Also surviving are three daughters: Shera Denney, Missoula, Mont.; Mary Denney, Warsaw; and Crystal Floyd, Rochester; four sons: Andy Denney, Tennessee; Caleb Denney, Nappanee; Josh Denney, Warsaw; and Bruce (and spouse Theresa) Floyd, Akron; two brothers, Lee Denney and Kevin (and spouse Ruth) Denney, all of Jackson, Ohio; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Bible Way Ministries Church, 687 Brentwood Drive, Akron, with Pastor Richard Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Jackson, Ohio.
Calling is one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.
Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, IN is in charge of arrangements.
