Leesburg Passes Sidewalk Policy

July 28, 2016 at 4:25 p.m.

LEESBURG – Leesburg Town Board passed the sidewalk enhancement program policy during its monthly meeting Monday night.
The program was implemented for the purpose of providing financial assistance to residents in replacing sidewalks in front of their homes only.
Using available annual funds, the town will pay for the cost of concrete only, up to dimensions of 66 by 5 feet. The payments will be made directly to the concrete companies. All other costs, including additional concrete and labor, will be incurred by the residents.
To meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, the town also will provide ADA mats at no charge to residents with properties at intersections where the pavement declines to meet the street.
The board also accepted a bid from Hall Signs to purchase 60 new signs at a cost of $1,201.13. The bid beat out Michael Todd and Company’s bid for 51 signs at $1,019.52 as the town may need more than just 51 signs.
During public comments, Leesburg resident Sue Charlton requested a Memorial Day parade. The board approved the parade, with line-up at 10:15 a.m., parade at 10:30 a.m. and an 11 a.m. service at the cemetery. Charlton also may seek help from area businesses to fund prizes.
Leesburg resident Justin Curtis brought up an issue with a late fee regarding his water bill. The board reviewed past bills and checks, but will need to further investigate so the issue was tabled until next month’s meeting. The current town ordinance states that water bills are due on the 15th of each month.
The board reminds everyone of no parking on streets between 3 and 5 a.m. and no burning of anything within the town limits. The board meets again May 13 at 6:30 p.m.[[In-content Ad]]
