NORTH WEBSTER – Lee “Gene” Mock, 85, Syracuse, passed away at 8:25 p.m. Sept. 26, 2013, at Parkview Noble Hospital, Kendallville. He was born Dec. 10, 1927, in Pierceton, to Otto Earl and Mary Irene Plew Mock. On June 2, 1947, in Elizabeth City, N.C., he married Edna “Marie” Bennett, who survives. He was a lifetime resident of the North Webster and Syracuse areas and attended North Webster High School. He was a United States Navy veteran. He was a farmer and retired in 1990 from Coachman RV in Middlebury after 12 years of service. He had previously worked at Regent Homes in Syracuse. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #418 F&AM in Milford, Scottish Rite in Fort Wayne, the National Rifle Association and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 253 in North Webster and the VFW in Syracuse. Also surviving are a son, Gary L. Mock, Syracuse; a granddaughter, Valerie (and spouse Paul) Clingerman, Vincennes; and a brother, Roger (and spouse Sarah) Mock, Shreveport, La. He was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery. Military Services will be performed by the North Webster American Legion and the Syracuse VFW.
