By Staff Report-

What started as a summertime, one-week class at the Lee Anne Stewart Dance School, has blossomed into a new preschool class with an array of benefits for young dancers and a financial reprieve for parents during this difficult economic time.
Children often enjoy many forms of dance, but sometimes they have very specific likes and dislikes. Young children benefit from trying various dance styles, and it is a necessary component for understanding and deciding which types of dance and creative expression they prefer. Unfortunately, with the slump in the economy and increasing food and gas prices, some families struggle to afford multiple dance classes for their children.
The new, more affordable class offered at the Lee Anne Stewart Dance School includes 30 minutes of ballet and 30 minutes of tap for 4 to 5 year olds. By combining two classes into one, parents pay a reduced tuition rate and only purchase one costume instead of two for the dance production.
Many parents want their children to experience fun activities that facilitate skill improvement or the development of new skills, both of which dancing provides. The many benefits of dance include social interaction and the advancement of listening skills, large motor skills, following instructions, creativity, memory recall, coordination and musicality.
The new ballet and tap combination class provides an array of activities to keep busy young dancers motivated and engaged in learning. Dance activities are enhanced with an assortment of props including fairy wings, crowns, wands, hula hoops, bean bags and scarves and provide opportunities for fun while making friends and learning to dance.[[In-content Ad]]The dancers will also learn two dance numbers to be performed on stage during the June dance production at the Warsaw Performing Arts Center.
Additional information and registration is available by calling the Lee Anne Stewart Dance School at 877-658-9875.
