LCA Names Top Students

WINONA LAKE – Lakeland Christian Academy announced its honor students for the Class of 2015.
In addition to valedictorian salutatorian, Lakeland Christian also awards a Timothian Award. The Timothian Award is based on 1 Timothy 4:12 and is awarded by the faculty to the senior or seniors who exhibit excellence in spiritual leadership and character.
Abbey Hartwiger is valedictorian. She is the daughter of Robert and Aimee Hartwiger. She has attended LCA for six years. She earned a cumulative numeric average of 100.09.
She led an LCA community service group, is a member of the National Honor Society, has served in both Kosciusko Endowment Youth Services and Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy and is the president of the Class of 2015.
She plans to attend Grace College in the fall to study marketing.
Maryl Gerst is the daughter of Todd and Karen Gerst. She is this year’s salutatorian and co-Timothian.
She earned a cumulative numeric average of 99.41. She has attended LCA for 4-1/2 years.
Gerst is the senior class vice president and a National Honor Society member. She has been active in the LCA athletic department, participating in volleyball and basketball.
She will attend Purdue University in the fall to study nursing.
Andrew Nieveen is the son of Scott and Julie Nieveen. He is awarded the Timothian Award.
He has attended LCA for six years and has been a part of the athletic department, participating in soccer and golf.
He is a member of the National Honor Society, where he serves as the vice president and is the secretary for the Class of 2015. He plans to attend Moody Bible Institute in the fall.
