He was born Nov. 1, 1926, in Pikeville, Ky., to Reuben Dodge and Letha Mullins Elkins. On May 7, 1953, in Pikeville, he married Bobbie Calhoun, who survives.
Moving to Kosciusko County from Kentucky in 1952, he retired from Zimmer Inc., Warsaw, after 23 years. He was a member of Northern Little Dove Old Regular Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with the engineers.
Also surviving are a daughter, Anna Jean Watkins, North Webster; two sons, Larry and Dodge Elkins, both of Warsaw; four sisters: June Newsome, Kendallville; Mathel Vanover, Myra, Ky.; Fran Whitt, Jonesville, Va.; and Linda Elkins, Coldwater, Mich.; five brothers: John and Verdell Elkins, both of Coldwater, Mich., and George Elkins, Jenkins, Ky.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, two brothers and a grandson.
Services were at 2 p.m. Friday at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Elder Estill Hamilton officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
