NORTH MANCHESTER – Lawrence L. Bonewitz, 88, of North Manchester, died at 4:50 p.m. March 24, 2012, in Parkview Huntington Hospital.

He was born April 24, 1923, in North Manchester, to Ira and Esther Penn Bonewitz. On April 7, 1946, he married Betty Steele, who survives.

He worked at the Manchester Foundry for 36 years, retiring in 1985. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1943-45. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Wabash.

Surviving are two sons, Ron (and spouse Pattie) Bonewitz, North Manchester, and Randy Bonewitz (and Todd Dellinger) Bonewitz, North Manchester; three daughters: Nancy Bonewitz, North Manchester; Paula (and spouse Dean) Damron, Rochester; and Linda (and spouse Dan) Strombeck, North Webster; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a brother, two sisters and a step-grandson.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Elder David Myers officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.

Calling is from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
