NORTH MANCHESTER – Lawrence E. “Larry” Mills, 70, Silver Lake, died at 6:35 p.m. Feb. 6, 2014, in Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.
He was born Sept. 7, 1943, in Decatur, to Kenneth R. and Margaret R. Minnich Mills. On April 28, 1968, he married Elizabeth E. Whitley, who survives.
He graduated from Decatur High School in 1960. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1981 after 21 years of service. While in the Marine Corps, he received a master’s degree in electronics. After retiring from the Marine Corps, he was employed at Magnavox-Raytheon, Fort Wayne, for 20 years, retiring in 2002.
Also surviving are a stepson, Robert Lynn (and spouse Ann) Simmons, Lovington, N.M.; a stepdaughter, Judy E. Morris, Lovington; two brothers, Thomas R. Mills, South Milford, and David (and spouse Donna) Mills, Decatur; a sister, Jenny R. Mills, South Milford; seven stepgrandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. He was a beloved husband, uncle and stepdad.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114W, North Manchester, with Father Drew Curry officiating.
Calling is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
