AKRON - LaVon O. "Pee Wee" Way, 77, of 7283 W. Bensart Drive, Beaver Dam, Claypool, died at 8 a.m. March 5, 2009, in Miller's Merry Manor, Wabash.

He was born Feb. 25, 1932, in Peru, to Clarence and Kathryn Hipskind Way. On May 8, 1955, in Wabash, he married Ellen P. Smith, who died Feb. 28, 2007.

He worked at USG, Wabash, for 43 years, retiring in 1994. He was a Korean War Army veteran and a member of Beaver Dam United Methodist Church, Akron. He always enjoyed taking pontoon rides with his wife and dog Peaches on Beaver Dam Lake.

Surviving are a daughter, Yvonne (and spouse Gary) Biehl, Twelve Mile; two sons, The Rev. Gregory (and spouse Terri) Way, Waco, Texas, and Anthony (and spouse Holly) Way, Wabash; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 305 W. Rochester St., Akron, with the Revs. Jacqueline Foley and Paul Butch Troke officiating. Burial will be in Falls Cemetery, Wabash.

Calling is from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
