COLUMBIA CITY – Laurel Eugene Taylor, 84, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 8:36 p.m. Dec. 26, 2012, in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.
He was born March 2, 1928, in Whitley County, to Glenn Jewel and Grace Evelyn Traster Taylor. On Sept. 26, 1953, he married Donnabelle “Jonnie” Wagner, who preceded him in death.
He lived in Whitley and Allen counties all of his adult lifetime. He graduated from Jefferson Center High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950-1952. He worked for 29 years at Joslyn Steel, Fort Wayne, and retired from PTG, Columbia City.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed watching the TV game shows, Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right in addition to working word puzzles, playing cards, pool and ping pong.
Surviving are his sons, Gregory E. (and spouse Cynthia) Taylor, Pierceton, and Vance A. Taylor (and Rhonda Ferry), Orlando, Fla.; and a brother, Leonard D. (and spouse Pearl) Taylor, Bluffton. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Bradley D. Taylor; a brother, Gerald Taylor; and sister, Marilyn E. Burke.
A memorial service will be at noon Saturday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, officiated by Sharon Brockhaus, Certified Funeral Celebrant. Burial will be at a later date in Jefferson Chapel Cemetery.
Calling is one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
