Laura B. Eastep Humberd, 88, of 411 Kings Highway, Winona Lake, died at 2 p.m. March 19, 2007, in her residence.

She was born Sept. 30, 1918, in Springfield, Ohio, to William Lyle and Mayme Hutchisson Eastep. On Aug. 29, 1942, she married Jesse Humberd, who survives.

Living in the area since 1951, she was a former elementary school teacher at Claypool, McKinley and Lincoln schools, and taught at Grace College. While in Ohio she operated her own kindergarten in her home for five years. She was a member of Indiana Retired Teachers Association and Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, where she was a past primary superintendent at Winona Lake and Ohio.

Also surviving are two daughters, Lenora "Lee" Kingery, Dover, Del., and Margaret "Meg" Damer, Howe; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with Pastor Tom Miller officiating.

No calling is planned.
