KETTERING, Ohio – Larry J. McKinley, 76, of Arlington, Texas, and formerly of Kettering, Ohio, died March 26, 2013, in Arlington Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 9, 1936, in Wabash, to Ora and Florence Ogle McKinley. His wife, Marilyn McKinley, preceded him in death.
He graduated from Mentone High School; earned a bachelor’s degree from Manchester University, North Manchester; and earned a master’s degree from the University of Dayton. He retired as an assistant vice president after 27 years with NCR Corp. Prior, he was a teacher at Kettering Fairmont and unit principal at Fairmont East High School for a combined 10 years. He was a member of Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren, where he established the Marilyn McKinley Memorial Scholarship Fund. He was a member of the Big “O” Group and Kettering Optimist Club. He  authored several books, including McKinley Happenings.
Surviving are his children, Brent (and spouse Samantha) McKinley, Kettering, and Ellen McKinley, Las Vegas; and a brother, Dwayne (and spouse Cheryl) McKinley. He also was preceded in death by a sister.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren, Kettering. Burial will be private in Woodland Cemetery.

Unlike other distributions, which are taxed at ordinary income tax rates, Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) allow for a tax-free distribution from an IRA, provided that the distribution goes directly to a qualified charity.
