BOURBON – Larry F. Koontz, 70, West Union, W. Va., formerly of Bourbon, passed away June 19, 2015, at West Virginia University Hospital, Morgantown, W. Va.
He was born April 26, 1945, in Plymouth, to Paul and Mary Snearly Koontz. On Nov. 2, 1963, he married the love of his life, Gracie Jenkinson, who survives.
He was a 1963 graduate of Tippecanoe/Triton High School. He was a lifetime area resident until he moved in 2003 to North Carolina where he worked at a Christian retreat camp.
 He was a retired farmer and was a dedicated Christian, always wanting to spread the gospel through his work. He was a faithful member of Mt. Salem Baptist Church, West Union, W. Va.  
Also surviving are 10 children: Brian (and spouse Kathy) Koontz, Bourbon; Brenda (and spouse Mark) Daily, Bremen; Lora Koontz, Fort Wayne; Teresa (and spouse Todd) Kauffman and Wesley Koontz, all of Rochester; Rich (and spouse Tera) Koontz, Bristol; Eric Koontz, Mount Hood, Ore.; Rita (and spouse Craig) Haecker, North Manchester; Joe Koontz, Madison; and Solomon Koontz, West Union, W. Va.; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Phyllus (and spouse Jack) Egolf, Cheswold, Del.; and Sue (and spouse Bill) Elliott, Argos. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ronald Koontz, on April 30, 2001, and a grandchild, Zoe Haecker.  
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at The Country Church, Ind. 33 N., Bourbon, with Pastors Ed Decker, Joey Watt and Randy Taylor officiating. Burial is in the Summit Chapel Cemetery, Bourbon.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the church.
