He was born Aug. 23, 1937, near Atwood, to John and Treva Martz Hoffer. On June 1, 2007, he married Dorothy Cormany, who survives.
He was a former co-owner of Randall Yeager Insurance Co., Warsaw. He was a sports enthusiast and especially loved Indiana University basketball and Notre Dame football. He was an avid golfer, both in Warsaw and Venice. He was a past member of Rozella Ford, Tippecanoe Country Club and Jacaranda West Country Club in Venice where he held numerous board positions.
Also surviving are five children: Brett Hoffer and Jennifer Schlegel, both of Fort Wayne; Lori Verkamp, Jasper; Kelli Anderson and Stefanie Stovall, both of Sarasota; three stepdaughters; 12 grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; his mother, Treva Hoffer, Winona Lake; and a brother, Douglas Hoffer, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by a son, Jon R. Hoffer; his father, John W. Hoffer; and his previous wife, Karen S. Hoffer.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McHatton Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Pastor Michael Vancleave officiating. Burial is in Stony Point Cemetery, Etna Green.
Calling is from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel prior to the service.
