NORTH MANCHESTER - Larry E. Holmes, 63, of Laketon, died at 5:56 p.m. March 30, 2010, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

He was born July 9, 1946, in Auburn, to Robert and Susan Daub Holmes. On May 23, 1988, he married Shirley E. Lyons, who survives.

He was a commercial painter and later retired from R.R. Donnelley & Sons, Warsaw, after 14 years. He was a U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Wabash.

Also surviving are three sons: Jeffrey (and spouse Tricia) Miller, North Manchester; Gregory Miller, Arlington, Va.; and John (and spouse Janice) Miley, Wabash; a daughter, Elizabeth (and spouse Charles) Stodgell, Wabash; a sister, Linda McElvaney, Carson City, Nev.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at McKee Mortuary, North Manchester, with Pastor Manfred Fremder officiating. Burial will be in Laketon Cemetery.

Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
