Lakeland Christian Moves To 2-0 After Rout Of SBCA

WINONA LAKE – For just the second time in the last 15 years, Lakeland Christian’s girls basketball team is 2-0 after a 56-13 home drubbing of South Bend Career Academy Friday night.
Hannah Delp led the Lady Cougars with 20 points and four rebounds. Rachel Sand added 14 points and six boards, and Carissa Urschalitz added 11 points and seven rebounds. Brady Goss scored seven points and had a team-high eight rebounds. Melissa Goss had four points to round out the LCA scoring.
Delp was credited with six assists, and the team recorded 17 assists for the night. LCA shut out the visiting Lady Cobras in the second and fourth quarters.
The Lady Cougars won’t have long to enjoy the win. North Miami will visit LCA at 7:30 tonight.

Kylee Rostochak had 15 points and Aubrey Schmeltz had 10 for Wawasee in its 33-30 loss to No. 4 (Class 2A) Westview at the Hardwood Tepee.
Westview’s Grace Hales, who signed a letter-of-intent with Valparaiso University this week, scored 11 points for the visitors.
Wawasee led 22-19 after three quarters before Westview outscored the home team 14-8 over the final eight minutes to secure the win.
Now 1-2, Wawasee will host Lakeland Tuesday night.
