Lake City Bank announced recently the availability of REWARDS Checking - a free checking account that "rewards" clients with certificate of deposit comparable-interest rates and reimbursement of ATM surcharges provided simple technology-based requirements are met.

The REWARDS Checking account at Lake City Bank currently pays 6.01 percent annual percentage yield on balances up to $25,000 and 1.01 percent on balances more than $25,000 and refunds ATM fees up to $25 per month.

To receive these "rewards" a client must make a minimum of eight debit card purchases per month, have at least one direct deposit or ACH payment to the account each month and receive their monthly bank statement electronically.

According to Michael L. Kubacki, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Lake City Bank, "REWARDS Checking encourages clients to make use of technology such as debit cards and e-statements, which lowers the bank's costs, thus making the benefits to the client possible. As a general rule, we don't think it's our place to tell clients how to do business with us. But in this case, the client is 'rewarded' for using these technological tools. It's a pretty painless way to nudge people into the 21st century."

Kubacki said, "Lake City Bank's overall strategy has been to be a leader in providing highly personalized community banking and investment services in Indiana. Traditionally we compete on service rather than product features. But we believe REWARDS Checking is a significantly better checking account and we are pleased to be the first financial institution to introduce the product to our market area. Lake City Bank REWARDS Checking clients will get the best of both worlds - a great checking account product and top quality service from the best group of bankers in Indiana."

Complete information about REWARDS Checking may be obtained at Lake City Bank's Web site, www.lakecitybank.com, or by calling the bank's one-call center toll free 888-522-2265, option 2 or any local Lake City Bank office.[[In-content Ad]]
