NORTH MANCHESTER - Lacy E. Carpenter, 86, North Manchester, died at 6:15 a.m. Nov. 28, 2008, at Rolling Meadows Health Care Center, LaFontaine.

He was born Feb. 8, 1922, in Ashland, Ky., to Henry and Lola Salyers Carpenter. On Oct. 18, 1944, he married Helen I. Clemons, who died Sept. 5, 2002.

He retired as a supervisor from General Tire, Wabash, after 18 years. He served during World War II in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. He attended Laketon Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Vickie Carpenter, Yelm, Wash.; two sisters, Madge Buckley, Carleton, Mich., and Mable Fry, Frankfort; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, a brother and three sisters.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lakeview Cemetery, Silver Lake, with Pastor Rob Rensberger officiating.

No calling is planned.
