He was born Jan. 29, 1924, in North Manchester, to Edmund and Isabel Parmerlee Long. On May 20, 1951, he married Alta M. Wiles, who died Dec. 10, 2007.
He retired as cost accountant after 43 years with the former Peabody Seating Co., North Manchester, and later with American Standard. He was a member of Roann Church of the Brethren. He graduated from Central High School, North Manchester, in 1942, and was a member of the Manchester Symphony Society. He served one term on the board of Manchester Community Schools.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen Garrett, Eaton, Ohio, and Pamela Long, North Manchester. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
An organ recital celebrating his life will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester. Burial will be at a later date in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
Calling is one hour prior and following the service Sunday at Timbercrest Chapel.
